Or just a well adjusted grown up.

I have no problem with what Lias did at all but all these platitudes about how taking a loss gracefully is a sign of some personality flaw are pretty bad.

All I want is an authentic response. Responses to losing vary by the individual. Having no class is one thing, showing real emotion and passion is another. I think Lias just showed passion. I do worry about NO emotion after a big loss. Some athletes are in it only for the money since the alternative pays 1% of what they make so a graceful loser could be someone who just doesn't care. That would be a bigger concern than a guy throwing away his 2nd place medal.

As mentioned before in the actual thread, the Rangers have hired Eric Raymond as their official goalie coach in Hartford. He spent his last 8 years with the Halifax Mooseheads and split time between Hartford and Halifax until now.

Goalie coach Raymond leaves Mooseheads for AHL job

big question is who is gonna be in the goalie in hartford...if we sign a veteran backup so georgiev can play every night then I love the idea of hiring a goalie coach that will be with him every day to help him develop...but if he is in ny i'm not sure any of the other goalies i care much about either way

This has nothing to do with where Georgiev will wind up next season. It is a STRATEGIC move to help out all goalies who are in the prospect pipeline below NHL level going forward. Up until now these guys were mostly left to their own devices if they struggled or needed to work on something. AHL and ECHL. Allaire just had not been able to split his time being tied up with Lundqvist and whoever was his NHL backup. Good move!

I saw an interview with Gorton recently where he mentioned they really like Mazanec. I could see the backup position battled between the two with Georgiev starting for Hartford in the end. Mazanec wasn't bad in Nashville, just got stuck in their goalie depth. He wasn't bad for Hartford until his injury, too.

I can see a plan where Georgiev and Mazanec split NHL backup / Hartford starter duties next season but the backup is Georgiev’ position to lose.

I think both would be fine as backup or starter in Hartford. The issue is the development of Georgiev. Barring injury hank will play 50+ games. So if he plays 25 games in nhl with lots of days off between games is that enough? Or is he better off playing more regularly in the ahl?

I wouldn't be too keen on the bolded. They could still very well sign a more experienced keeper. Kari Lehtonen, Steve Mason and the infamous Pavelec are all still free agents.

They could but to me it’s about 50/50 for either option. I was just commenting if it is only between Georgiev and Mazanec.

Depends. You think they send guys like Lias and Chytil? Or Pionk? I could be wrong but I feel like in the past this organization has been reluctant to send guys that played in the NHL or extensively in the AHL. We still have a deeper pool than normal, but who knows. Also a lot of guys are Euros and probably won't be able to attend due to the start of their seasons.

EDIT: Like right off the bat, we definitely won't see Shestyorkin, Rykov and Kravtsov, K'Andre Miller (NCAA eligibility stuff), and probably Lundkvist and Ragnarsson. So if they held out Andersson, Chytil, and Pionk, that wipes out 9 of our top-16 prospects. We'd have Hajek, Howden, Lindgren, Ronning, Lettieri, and Day. Obviously other guys, I'm just going off the prospect voting we've done so far.

So, depending on whether they think it's worth it for Andersson, Chytil, and Pionk, could be less impressive (still good, but less good).

Vesey played, IIRC

I don't think NYR care if they're going to be NHLers or not. In fact, I think it's better for the players they think will be NHLers go play.

We actually will have some depth. Not just a team full of random invitees

Lindqvist-Andersson-Meskanen
Lettieri-Chytil-Ronning
Gropp-Howden-Gettinger
Leedahl-Fontaine-Hughes

Hajek-Lindgren
Miller-Keane
Day-Pionk

That's a team at Traverse without any invitees, and doesn't include SHL/Allsvenskan, Liiga and KHL players since those leagues are already underway by the time we play at Traverse.

I'm not sure Miller will play. Perhaps because he is from around the corner but most NCAA guys don't play. Pionk won't be playing in this one. He's beyond this. Maybe someone like Crawley though who played a solid yet unspectacular pro game last year

I don't really see much benefit to Chytil, Andersson and Pionk playing, but maybe that's just me. Let them focus on regular, professional preparations for the season instead of this silly thing.

Agreed, let them send their group of Howden, Ronning, Lindgren, etc. There’s no need to waste time for Chytil and Lias when they can be practicing with the team and prepping to play under Quinn

Right, Chytil and Andersson were all over the map last season--literally. WJC, National Team games, WC, SHL for Lias, the AHL, NHL. I just don't see how this benefits them--I think they're a little past it and would be best off, as you said, focused on one thing--making the big club and learning how to play for Quinn. JMO.
