Watching a few minutes of Lulea game. Can someone explain to me why there's a player on the ice that doesn't have a number and is just wearing a blue shirt instead?

Also, why in the Finnish league, is there a player on each team that wears a gold helmet?

I've always been curious about this.

Finally, has anyone else noticed the polka song they play when Turku scores a goal? It's really fun. I think we should import it and play it every time Kakko scores at the garden...
Golden helmets are for the top scorers.

I assume the blue sweater is something similar.

Lots of Euro leagues give different things to the top scorers to wear.

Interesting. Do you know why they do that? Doesn't that make it harder for top scorer to score cause it's easier for other team to track them? I get that it could help the fans. (though the blue jersey has no number or nameplate on the back of the jersey. So, that doesn't seem to be great for the fans.

The gold helmet thing IIRC is a sponsorship thing with a betting company? I'm sure someone will jump in soon and correct me. LOL.

And the 22% shooting isn't due a a different coach with a new philosophy, it's an aberration. You can't sustain that scoring rate.
Of course not. But there should be some context. Was he driving to the net more or prancing on the perimeter? Putting yourself into better scoring positions, will tend to enhance your shooting percentage. And that could be part of the game that Quinn has made him change. Anyway, not to get caught on nuances and debate warts in stats, yes I agree that his percentage was abnormally high. I also saw a player who changed his game.
I like Strome and have no problem trying him at 2C to start the year unless Andersson or Howden look like stars in camp. I'm not trying to slam him or his game. He's a perfectly adequate player for us, and hopefully he can work towards fulfilling the promise that made him such a high pick.
I am not even talking about him being 2C. I am talking about a middle 6 forward who can shift from line to line and from center to wing when needed. But yes, let's see if he can show some more promise or just regress back to the norm.

No offense, but if you do not want responses, then why post on a message board?

Oh please, you would ridicule my post regardless.

And fans loving Lemieux has nothing to do with this accusation that any fan felt Zucs was #99. Good lord, if I posted that you would have jumped on it already like most of my posts.

A hot topic has been physical play and those capable of defending the young. That and seeing similarities to his father is why fans love Lemieux. If neither you or the other poster care about what fans think then ask yourselves why you post here rather than me.

I like Lemieux a lot. Boo boo muchos

Are you the guy who was bragging about his likes/posts ratio?

Was actually correcting somebody and a few ran with the “like” comment as if they found an edge.

If you can find where fans think Zucs is #99 i’ll give that edge. Until then, really?

I am not ridiculing. I am asking a simple question, which I know you seem to want to avoid answering. You posted a response on a message board where Rangers fans come to debate as a community. You seem to be up in arms that someone responded to your thoughts? I am in no way telling you to take your ball and leave the playground, but it seems to me that if you want to harbor no responses, then perhaps this type of environment is not the right one for you? Or maybe make your posts, but put in big letters at end "PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND!"

If by jumping on you, you mean reading what you wrote, digesting it and then putting out rejoinders for you to address, then see above.

With regards to Lemieux, he is a talented kid who likes to mix it up and is rough and tumble. Historically speaking, these type of players (if they can hold a regular spot, especially as a middle 6 player) have been revered by most Ranger fans. As an aside, many fans also were also fans of Zuccarello. Those two are distinct instances. Maybe they just liked him or incorrectly believed that Zucc was in fact the reincarnation of TGO. Either way, the point was that the views and opinions of fans are not the sole barometer whereas a player can be judged.

one reason I really wanted the Rangers to trade up for Brady Tkachuk although I wanted both Kravtsov and Tkachuk in that 18 draft.. I bet Rangers fans would get angry about a skilled forward fighting, i wonder if those cried about Shanahan fighting Brashear when Shanny was sticking up for Jagr or Dubinsky getting a 3rd man in sticking up for Brian Boyle. i guess fans want another Carcillo Gaborik situation.. these are the same fans that rather sign the next Brashear Purinton type which are useless. i would love if the Rangers can snag the next Tom Wilson.

They would love Tkachuck.

Anywhere on social media, my friend. I see posts about retiring his number. It's insane.

Good that you mentioned Strome. I was impressed with his ferocity as the season went on.

He actually did show grit. Guys like Stome and DeAngelo are still relatively young. I think both are getting better whereas they were labeled busts by their respective teams a shirt time ago. Might have to keep that in mind for this group of Rangers who likely will take some time to develop. A Lias Andersson is already being questioned yet just exited his teens.

watch Kakko be called a bust by those stupid fans, if he does not lead all rookies in goals and scoring for October or at least during 1 month of the regular season for rookie of the month.

Since you have chosen to edit your post, I will address your add-ons. See, people make a point, and they others make a counter point. That is called a credible debate.

When people talk about Lemieux, they do not talk about him defending the young. Yes, he will absolutely respond, but he is not a "protector". Of course they love the similarities to his father. Who would not? You are talking about a player that arguably belongs in the HOF and has a history of being absolutely money when it counts the most, in the post season. That is on top of driving the opposition crazy. Give me a team full of Claude Lemieuxs. THAT is why fans love a player like that. Plus, when it comes time for the Rangers, it has been quite a while since a player like that skated as AV would not tolerate such a player.

As for protecting the kids, I have stated multiple times as to who I believe the player will be.
If neither you or the other poster care about what fans think then ask yourselves why you post here rather than me.
We post here as a community of Ranger fans. We post here because due to the fact that some of the posters have inside information. We post here to cheer together and cry together. And yes, at times take out frustration on each other. We debate topic back and forth, at times beating a horse to death, resurrecting it and then beating it to death again. But on the whole, the posters here are very insightful and many bring much to the table that I simply cannot. Take AK for instance. That guy has forgotten more than I know of our European prospects. Or Joey Bones. Or George K. These guys bring knowledge that I cannot find elsewhere as a die hard Ranger fans. And those are just a few of the many that know things and have insights that I simply do not.

As for caring or not caring, the fact that someone responded to your post, should tell you something.
I like Lemieux a lot.
Congrats. You are no different than many here.

Neither Edstrom nor Ragnarsson had any points in their preseason game. What's awesome is that the game featured Jodie Curran, Brendan Shinnimin, Mat Bodie, Roman Horak, and Daniel Bernhardt's brother, David.

Sjalin didn't factor into his game, either.

I don't know what to make of this kid. At least Chytil showed some promise last year. Any thoughts?

He's 20. Only 2 years removed from his draft.

Cody Glass played junior hockey for 2 years and nobody calls him a bust. People jump to conclusions. I've brought up several times this past season how it is too early to call him a bust. Does he need to get better? Sure. But he's not a bust. He's 20, going into his D+3 season. If Lias played junior hockey the last 2 seasons, he would tear it up and nobody would complain. Lias put up the 2nd most points ever by an u17 player in the SuperElit (Swedish Juniors). He then played in the SHL for a full season before even being drafted. If he was in the WHL like Glass all this time, he would have been scoring left and right.
