Is this a joke? AV constantly kept Yandle on the 3rd pair, and barely played Tony, while keeping guys like Staal, Holden, and Girardi glued to the Top 4.
Yeah that post was ridiculous. The mainstays during AV's tenure? McDonagh, Girardi, Staal, Klein, Skjei, Holden, Smith, etc. The only guys that really fit the small PMD label would be maybe Boyle, Clendening, and Kampfer, and the latter two were bit players. Maybe Hunwick that one year? IDK. I don't remember how much he overlapped with Stralman, and while he liked Pionk in that small sample he didn't like DeAngelo.

Remember Staal-Smith closing out playoff games? Yeah those damn small PMDs ruining everything.

Wasn't it Staal-Holden with AV? or am I misremembering years?

He was 100% using Staal-Smith at the end of games in the playoffs. It was a thing, I don't know why. I vividly remember them out there when Brass tied Game 5 late.

I am 99% sure in the Ottawa series it was Staal-Holden. Either way, the notion that AV liked mobile PMDs is just not true. Yandle was never more than a 3rd pair PP specialist under AV

It definitely was Staal and Holden, but he'd also throw Smith out there late because Smith (with Staal) was one of our "defensive defensemen." I just watched that awful highlight of Brass scoring and it was Staal-Smith.

But anyway. Yes. The initial post that prompted this was ridiculous.

I mean are you really surprised when you look at who made that post?

For our Swedish posters or whoever else follows the SHL; with the pandemic, will there be relegation rounds? It seems unlikely given the circumstances, but figured I ask here anyways. Thanks in advance!!

When season was cancelled, so were the qvalseries, which means no promotion/relegation. This is a good thing for AIK, who were rotten and risking a drop down to Hockeyettan.

CapFriendly had him as becoming a free agent after this season. So, who knows.

The Rangers tried to bring him back but he wouldn't sign the QO because he was unwilling to potentially play in Hartford. When he does hit UFA, whenever that may be, it will be interesting to see what kind of interest he generates.

Jensen is a guy you have to feed top 6 minutes otherwise he loses interest and he’s never getting top 6 minutes in New York. Maybe if Kravtsov is ready, but that ship has sailed.

As bad as AIK was, I doubt they would ever be in a situation where they go down to Ettan. It would be disastrous for that organization though, so not even risking it, is nice

He is signed until 2021, so unless his contract is terminated, he won't be able to sign an NHL contract this year even as an NHL free agent

Right, I understand, I thought the post I quoted was saying that we were losing his rights because he signed on for another year--like we'd be losing his rights in a year. I was just saying, his rights are expiring now, so he's gone anyway.

Yeah. The moment he signed his current deal, there was no way we could sign him. I doubt we ever see him in the NHL. He is happy in Finland, plays a top-6 role for good money. Probably more than he'd make in North America

Yeah, and that was thing, he didn't want to play for Hartford. If someone gave him a one-way deal he'd be golden, but I'm not sure it ever happens.

even 1-way deal wouldn't keep him from being waived to the A,
i doubt he gets given a 'No Move"
he could get an agreement to either assign to europe, or be released,
if team wants him off NHL roster...

No, but a 1-way deal would guarantee him more money.

That's what I was getting at. Someone could make him an offer on a one-way deal that satisfies his financial requirements, I'm sure. I assume he'd have to be waived to be sent down, and if he wasn't claimed, I'm sure he would just refuse to report, his contract would be terminated, and he'd go back home.

But for him, why even do any of that?
