Gross at 20 in general seems fine, but he rose 10 spots, which is what was weird to me. Like, I don't know what he did to rise that far. I wouldn't put him ahead of Sjalin or even consider it; and even Bigras is a tough one, because while we hope there's the upside with Gross, there's still probably a pretty good chance he doesn't ever even become as good as Bigras.

Everyone ranks them differently, though. So, it is what it is.

I'd agree that Sjalin, at the very least, should be considered well ahead of Gross. I'd say the timing of the voting helped Nico out a fair bit. He probably should of moved up a little, but ten spots makes it seem like he may have gone from a little under-appreciated to being over-appreciated a bit.

I think there's a good argument that Keane should be above Hajek.

- Keane's scored more points per game in the CHL in both his U20 and U19 seasons
- Keane was awarded the OHL East Defensive Defenseman of the year award and was a finalist for the Max Kaminsky award. I think that's decent evidence that Keane is probably a little better defensively than Hajek at the same point in their development and at the least isn't very worse
- Keane is relatively younger
- It seems to me like Keane is just as good of a skater as Hajek

So it seems to me like Keane is a little bit ahead of where Hajek was as a U20 and the fact Hajek has had a tough adjustment to the pros (in my view) should add to Keane's edge if anything. Of course I would have Hajek lower than he is in our poll.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the prospects going from Junior Leagues to Pro Leagues (Hajek, Gettinger, Day, Ronning) dropped a combined 23 spots. The same thing happened to Gropp the year before. I think we generally underappreciate how much easier it is to put up numbers in a junior league, especially as an older player, than a pro league.

The biggest changes I would make would be:
- K'Andre at 3
- Tarmo and Barron at 8 and 9
- Hajek somewhere between 11 and 14
- Ragnarsson, Pajuniemi, and Sjalin at 15, 16, and 17
- Riley Hughes somewhere between 20 and 25
- Gilmour and Gropp make the top 30 in place of Virta and Huska

In the cases of Tarmo and Barron (and maybe Miller too), I think we're too slow to update our prior views on players whose performance has improved significantly.

In the cases of Ragnarsson, Pajuniemi, Sjalin, and Hughes, I think we underappreciate the upside that younger players have relative to older ones. Especially if they play in pro leagues where it's tough to put up numbers.

In the cases of Gilmour and Gropp (and to a lesser extent Day and Ronning), I think we underappreciate the value of players with high levels of skill when they either have other flaws in their game or aren't currently producing in line with their skill.

Gross probably rose so much because most thought it was a wasted pick when he was picked and playing a prominent role for his team at the WJC swung it a little bit the other way. He might be a few spots too high now, but he was also probably a few spots too low before

Not that it matters, but you could peel Bernhardt from "Didn't Make the Cut" as he retired after surgery.

I'd change this list quite a bit now with some new info, i'd drop Hajek quite far and bump Reunanen and Själin up for starters, Lemieux and Raddysh in the 11-18 range
