So we're officially in C level prospect tier now.

Add Gross because why not. Also we should probably consider where we think Lindbom should be placed given no one knows anything about him.

Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but I think you could make the case that Tarmo and Meskanen are B- guys, or somewhere there. If Tarmo had been productive before this year, he'd definitely be there--he slipped out of the top two rounds his draft year because of injury, so the upside should be there, he was well-regarded. He's having a really nice year, playing huge minutes and succeeding at both ends of the ice.

And Meskanen is a guy who had great success in Liiga who has thus far been able to translate it here, in the AHL. I put him above Gettinger, for instance, because I think there's more upside with Meskanen.

Barron is a bit of a wild card. Late pick for sure, but he's having a really nice Sophomore campaign and has displayed some excellent skills. I still hesitate to say he's in the B-tier because he's still a WIP and I don't know that much about him, beyond catching a couple games.

I agree with all of the prospects you mentioned to be in the B-level. Just to make sure there’s alignment in scales with @Fitzy we are talking blue chips, A-level, B-level etc.

Basically I'm at the point where I'm more into adding AHL'ers. Bigras has had a really good season and I don't think Lettieri is far off either. Fogarty did okay in a kind of Marek Hrivik kind of way when he was up. Then there's Fontaine who might reasonably be a 4th liner someday. Took some time but O'Gara got kind of better after his call up last year.

I’m almost there too but first want to put Reunanen and Barron on the list.

I've got Reunanen ahead of Hajek and Barron, who leads his team in scoring and has outproduced Poehling, in the same tier. Try telling a habs fan that Poehling is a c-level prospect.

Add Lettieri. I agree with the assessment of him as AAAA player, but he's gone from 0.1 to 0.6 to 1 ppg in the AHL over the past 3 years. If he's got one more year of development left, he'll turn into a valuable NHL player. I think there's a decent chance that happens.

Lindbom is one of the next ones for me. Allaire reportedly loves him and based on Allaire's track record that gives Lindbom like a 50-50 shot of turning into an NHL starter.

I honestly don't know about Allaire at this point. Since he came on board in 2004, who has he turned into a starting-caliber goaltender? Cam Talbot? We've drafted Montoya (mediocre journeyman), Antoine Lafleur (out of hockey two years after we drafted him), Scott Stajcer (had some promise, derailed by injuries), Mackenzie Skapski (never amounted to anything), Brandon Halverson (doesn't appear heading towards an NHL career), and then Huska and Wall (jury's out, but up-and-down college careers thus far). We've also brought in guys like Holt, Wiikman, Zaba, Jason Missiaen, Jeff Malcolm, etc., who never amounted to anything here.

People talk about him like he's a goalie whisperer: just work with Allaire and everything will be great! Like he turns turds into gold. Henrik loves him and gives him a ton of props, so I will certainly give him that. But beyond his work with Henrik, and overseeing Talbot's development into an at-times good starter, what's his claim to fame? Helping Chad Johnson be really mediocre? We had way more failed picks and signings in goal than we've had actually work out. And a lot of them we hear how Allaire loved them--I remember he loved Missiaen's size and athleticism, he thought just tinkering with Malcolm's mechanics would help him, he personally vouched for Antoine Lafleur, was thrilled with Halverson, and on and on.

At this point I would not be surprised if when Henrik goes, Allaire moves on to some other role or organization. It's not that I think he's bad--I just feel like his reputation vastly exceeds what he has actually accomplished. And I'm also tired of hearing (not directed at you personally), "Well, Allaire vouched for him so he gets the benefit of the doubt!" At this point he really shouldn't. Maybe he's better getting results out of guys that are established, like helping Biron or making Valiquette sort of look like an okay backup.

EDIT: I don't think Lindbom is a bad prospect. It's just that, whether Allaire liked the pick or thought he was great is irrelevant to me. At this point I put more stock into pre-draft scouting reports and rankings, which generally say he had a third-round grade.

I'd add Raanta, Georgiev, and probably Shestyorkin to the list of successes. Between Talbot, Raanta, and Hank, that's 10% of the starting goalies in the NHL and maybe 15% of the good ones. It's a far better track record than teams like Carolina or the Islanders who seemingly haven't been able to find one starting goalie in decades.

There are definitely some whiffs though too, which is why I said there's a 50-50 chance Lindbom makes it (which admittedly overstates it) and am only advocating for Lindbom around what will be our 20th prospect, after we've cleared through all the B and high C-level prospects, instead of earlier. We're getting to the point where our system starts to thin out and compared to other long-shot prospects I think Lindbom deserves some consideration.

I think it’s been documented that up until very recently there was no a designated goalie coach for any levels below NHL. If this is a case we needed to look at Talbot, Raanta and Georgiev (and maybe Helberg) IN ADDITION to Hank to evaluate Allaire. Considering 31 organizations he’s definitely in the very top tier among his peers.
