And Chytil is driving play and scoring in the NHL. It's not a knock on Kravs, I just think Fil is ahead of him right now. Krav has jumped to 2 for me

It all depends on what you use for these rankings. Their current level, their upside? I go with upside

Both, but I try to keep these as recent as possible. It obviously introduces recency bias, but with polls like these, I believe that's sort of necessary with the top picks. I start valuing potential as we get deeper into these polls, i.e., when I was still rating Reunanen highly last year

From when we did this less than 2 months ago:

"I have Chytil and Kravtsov so close that I wonder how much impact it would have on the results if this poll went up 3 games ago.

Went with Kravtsov, but certainly understand the votes for Chytil and Shesterkin."

I knew that doing this right when Chytil was going through his hot streak was going to skew the results. Fun little social experiment we just unintentionally engaged in.

Obviously it’s close but at virtually the same age Chytil is already in NHL top6, which fair or not is the difference to me.

Add Miller

Kravtsov looks like a player but let’s not forget chytil could have played in the world juniors and probably would have been one of the top 5 players

It has to be filip
My feeling exactly. This can change but at the moment Filip is performing and showing star flashes in the NHL.

I’m surprised so many think krav has passed him

The previous poll was before a lot of people started following him in the KHL through either streams or the videos posted on social media by Alex Nunn.

His performance as an 18-year old in the KHL, where he is involved in 28% of his team's goals, leads his team in points and dominates at u20 level in tournaments in Sweden and the Czech Republic, probably helped him a lot in the current poll.

Chytil had a hot streak prior to the last poll with 5 goals in 5 games, and has dropped off a bit. Those 2 factors combined explain why Kravtsov is leading over Chytil at the moment. Recency bias works both ways

I could go back and forth between Chytil and Krav, i don't think either choice for #1 is the wrong choice.

Filip---add Miller.

Kravtsov was good not great at the WJC--I know playing out of position but this is where I've seen him. Filip was good not great at last year's WJC. The NHL's a bit tougher than the KHL though and Filip has managed to hang tough this year so..........that said he ain't quite even a 2nd liner yet and he certainly isn't ready to be a top 6 center.

They both should be very good players when all is said and done but there's some growing pains and development they're going to have to fight through.

I'll amend my comment above a bit. Playing the last couple or so games with a torn upper body muscle certainly didn't help Kravtsov at all as well as playing a somewhat unfamiliar position.
