They signed him to an ELC, which would kick in on July 1st, and then additionally, signed an ATO/PTO with the Hartford Wolf Pack to be eligible to play before his ELC starts. This is common practice.

No need to apologize :)
Of course, that makes sense. The way you phrased your original comment, it read to me like they gave him a PTO and then subsequently signed him to an ELC based on his late year audition.

Isn’t it fun to be having these debates with our 25-30th best prospect? :)

After reading about Skinner more I would’ve went with him a bit earlier. Elmer here though, I liked him in the scrims and his play in Lethbridge

im not gonna pretend i've watched him but I would love to know what makes Gross a prospect worth acknowlegding.

He's physical and skates pretty well. That's about it, for me. As a result he got a lot of burn with the Swiss U18 and U20 teams, which I think added some helium to his balloon.

His defending in the OHL is average, he takes a lot of bad penalties, and his offensive game is nonexistent. He was expected to be a big player in the OHL and he bombed his first season, though he did have to fight through a case of mono. Last season started off pretty well for him, but then he just kind of stagnated. Took some really stupid penalties in the playoffs, as well. I watched most of his WJC games and he just looked like any other player.

He was once thought of as a guy that would be picked within the top sixty, but it just hasn't come together for him. I don't care for him, but I guess it's not unreasonable to have him here.

Yeah, and that's fine, but as I said, it's because he's Swiss. If he were Swedish or Russian or Canadian or whatever, he'd likely play in none.

The Swiss program is improving, but they still have a dearth of bona fide NHL prospects to pull for these tournaments.
