Laba, add Lamb. Lamb played well despite having a smaller role on a stacked team. I bet if he went to a lesser school he'd have scored 15 points.

I think our prospect pool is a lot deeper than we give it credit for. I still see a couple of players here with a legitimate chance to make it.
Drury's first two drafts look strong to me. He "reached" for guys like Laba and Mancini but they both look like legitimate prospects. BMB could be a home run. Of Lamb, Vaisanen, Chmelar, and Kempf, I'd bet one makes it for sure. The unpopular mid- and late-round picks generally look quite promising, which is why I'm also holding out hope for guys like Larsson, Roobroeck, and Henricks.

Drury also did a good job in signing Scanlin and an even better job in netting Emberson in the Nemeth dump. Emberson was characterized by many as a throw in, but he has a real chance to make it in the NHL, even if it isn't here.

When you look at our drafting the past three years, IMO it's hard to not be pleased overall.

Im optimistic but let’s see what they do at the pro level if they even get signed and get to that point. Time and time again we have seen prospects stop developing at the junior level, Sean Day, Ryan Gropp, Evgenei Grachev Roman Horak to name a few.

The difference with the busts you mentioned are that we were relying on them to be top prospects

I doubt anyone was relying on Ryan Gropp. Rangers thought he had skill but it was Barzal making him look good. What a scrub
There were doubts about Gropp for the reason you mentioned but he was unfortunately one of our top prospects for a couple years. He was right in the middle of that stretch where we went four years without a first-round pick, and at the time he was picked Skjei was on the cusp and J.T. Miller was already in the NHL. We had Buchnevich and Duclair in the system as well as Igor, but after that we had guys like Tambellini, Halverson, Gettinger, Saarela, Nieves, Skapski, Day, Ronning, etc. It picked up a couple years later with Andersson and Chytil, but it really wasn't until 2018 when we had the three firsts that the system looked good again.

2ed round waste, could have dealt the pick to move down and he’d still be available in round 5. Awful pick. Who scouts these players a blind man?
Retracted.
But I think it’s too soon to make the call on kids very early in their NA pro careers at ages like 21 to 24.
Every player career arc varies.
