D Alexei Bereglazov won round 6. C/LW Boo Nieves is added to the poll.

RULES CHANGE:

Since HF no longer functions beyond the forum, no reason to have their old rules. We do, however, need the same rules for everyone or else the rankings mean nothing.

SKATER PROSPECT: A player 24 or younger with 50 or fewer NHL games.

GOALIE PROSPECT: A player 25 or younger with 25 or fewer NHL games.

EXCEPTION 1: If a player completed the required 50/25 games, but is still not regarded as an NHL regular because he's shuffling between the NHL and the AHL, he could still be a prospect as long as he's 24 or younger and if agreed upon by most people here.

EXCEPTION 2: A player who is no older than 25 years old at the time of the vote and is a borderline NHLer could still count if agreed upon by most people here.

Please vote on who to add to the next round of polling.

It's a joke that Day was even close to Graves last round. Not one of his skills is close to Graves: size (6-4 220), shot (104 mph), skating, defense, smarts, physical fitness, everything across the board is better for Graves. The reason Day seems even close is that people just do not get how vast the gap from the Juniors to the AHL is. People realize there's a gap, just not how much of a gap, and how much easier it is for someone in the Juniors vs someone in the AHL.

Right now in the development camp, Sean Day gets to run over kids who will be HS gym coaches in 5 years. Graves, meanwhile, was playing against guys who spent a significant time, sometimes many years, in the NHL. So yeah, it's easier for Day to look good against guys who after college will be playing in the Chelsea Pier Beer League than it is for Graves to play against a guy who was just sent down from the NHL and will be right back within weeks. But the reality is that Graves is a much better player.

Add Wall. Terrific freshman year.

ok .

I went with Graves over Pionk and Day because experience matters. Pionk and Day have a higher ceiling but I will wait to see their transition from college and juniors. Like that Pionk is not a senior compared to other college UFAs.

Add Jensen because of the same reason over Zborovsky and Wall.

Pionk.

I can't figure out who to add because the list of who to add is all screwed up. ;)

Also, why does to poll ask "Who ARE our #x prospect?"

Word.

Beacon, why can't you remove already selected prospects from the available list?

Graves, add Zborovskiy.

There is something wrong if Day beats Graves. Agree with what Beacon said. The "potential" argument for Day is also flawed. He has good potential, but this "he can be whatever he wants" stuff is non-sense, it ignores what his actual skill-set is.

Add Leedahl.

6'2" & 200lbs of grit and leadership...with an ability to put the puck in the net. Lower Ceiling than alotta guys, but I think his floor is higher than many. I think he makes it and thrives in the bottom 6.

Going with Ryan Graves, he's pretty close to NHL ready and has some decent upside.

Add Jensen, he's an NHLer.

Edit; Seriously, if Jensen is still available then he needs to be added pretty soon, he's a tweener, most of the prospects we add now will never play 10 games in the NHL, just sayin'.

So much BS in here, Day is a MUCH better skater then Graves, and his offensive instincts and vision is also miles ahead.

I'd have Graves ahead in a prospect ranking now but yeah, so much BS in what you wrote there, it's ridiculous.

Lets be fair here.

Day is a MUCH better skater than anyone.

Graves is a pretty good skater for a player his size, he's no less mobile than someone like Nick Holden, and we all know mobility is not Holden's problem.

I also think you are completely wrong about offensive instincts and vision. Graves has really good offensive instincts and vision. People paint him as just this guy who can shoot the puck. I get that he's good at that, but he has above average vision and instincts.

I think Graves and Day are pretty similar players. They are both more offensive than defensive players. Day has elite skating, Graves has an elite shot, although Graves is a good skater and Day has a good shot. They both are above average with puck moving, offensive instincts, playmaking. They both have excellent size also. The main difference is that Graves is what a few years of good development would look like for Day. Graves defense is still a work in progress, but its at a high enough level that it can not be exposed in the NHL, its pretty good for the AHL, just not great for the AHL yet. Day would be completely exposed defensively in the NHL, and might even be so in the AHL this season, so I think arguing that Day>Graves makes little sense, although given who you voted for, I'm not sure you are arguing that. Some definitely are though.

McIlrath was a good skater for his size, we saw where that got him in this system.

I don't agree. Graves is a much better skater than McIlrath.

As I said in the post you are responding to, I think Holden's skating is a much better comparison and he does fine with his skating, but what I do I know, maybe I'm just the classic HF poster, if you know what I am saying.
