Add Ollas.

He really should be higher. He played SHL games at 18 and now has the highest save percentage of any U20 goalie in the NCAA. I think I'd have him in my top 15.

I would also have Vaisanen above the guys on this list, but I think Ollas is the bigger omission right now.

add Tarnstrom? I dunno. He's having himself a season. It's kinda bottom of the barrel time. I'm quietly rooting for Ty Ronning to put things together and I dunno, become a Brendan Gallagher type player? Wall, Vaisanen are somewhere in the top 25 as well for me.

My main concern with Tärnström is that, at his age (D+2 season) he should be a contributor at pro level, not racking up point in Swedish juniors.

I get that.
but was thinking about his the other day,
that just as more prospects than ever are asserting themselves immediately at young ages,
it also seems maybe more guys, than used-to, follow a more stretched-out path to becoming major-league-ready

I know people are looking at upside at this stage, but for what it's worth, Adam Edstrom has been more productive than Karl Henriksson to this point in their respective careers--who is already up there at 16. He also has a game that's basically built to step onto a NA ice surface, which might actually even suit him better than the Swedish surface (and style of play).

Edström has exceeded expectations ever since we drafted him. That was such a big confidence boost for him. When I asked him about it, he didn't even expect to be drafted, which is why he didn't travel to Vancouver at the time. But when he heard he was picked, by the team most Swedes follow passionately, it really hit home for him that he has a shot.

Then, against the odds, he made the SHL squad in 2019, when most expected him to basically do the Tärnström-route, so to speak. Spend most of his time in juniors. But no, he made the team and hasn't looked out of place. A very underrated prospect IMO.

He definitely is underrated. And to your point--he hasn't looked out of place. He regularly takes shifts on Rogle's top line and of course had that nice playoff run last season with 3-3-6 in 11 games.

As a side note, both he and Tarnstrom are playing for Rogle today, which is neat. At least according to the lineups, Tarnstrom is in the game on the fourth line and isn't the spare.

Good stuff AK. I always love an underdog. Especially when their huge and have a bit of skill.
Hoping Edstrom can continue his progress and have a 4th lone future on the rangers.....
I really hope they at least give Ruesschoff the same chance they gave Barron/Gettinger next season.....
he’s another big guy that deserves it and has made to most out of a difficult situation this season where he’s been fighting for ice time

Yeah, not to go completely off topic here but I always think it's funny when people say "Gorton never addressed the lack of size and physicality" when he:

Traded for McQuaid, Lemieux and Lindgren
Drafted Gettinger, Skinner, Edström, Schneider and Cuylle
Signed Rueschhoff and Rooney
Claimed McLeod

Oh, and based on Drury's comments was trying to trade for Reaves for several years.

Anyway, Edström is a guy who might surprise people. As @nyr2k2 said as well, he regularly is moved up to the 1st line in the SHL and still looks good.

ADA, while smaller, also had no problem throwing his body around and playing an abrasive game....
Some guys just had their limitations

oh yeah, what about Hunter Skinner? How's he doing in HFD?

I wish they’d just keep him on D. He had to play Fwd some with all the taxi squad movement... he’s still got years to cook though...
Hopefully he does make it and can possibly be a 3rd pair guy in a few years
