How do you think he would fit into the Mestis lineup if he goes there?

Even though the upside is the question mark, I think I'd still prefer him to be getting special teams usage, and top6 TOI in an inferior league at this point.

If he is loaned to Mestis, TUTO makes the most sense. They're also located in Turku, so he will be close to TPS. It's a pro league, which is better for an 18 year old than juniors especially when he already was over a point per game in that junior league at age 17.

Of course I hope he plays for TPS this upcoming season but Mestis is a good 2nd option. It's a big leap, Teissala had a cup of coffee last season and left for HIFK. Intonen has already spent significant time in Liiga and Mestis. That move can be great for an 18-year old kid who needs to refine some areas of his game.

Ronning is getting underrated

If last season had been his rookie pro season coming out of the NCAA, he'd be getting a lot more votes.

That said, it's hard for me to rate him higher than mid-20s because he turns 24 in October. And also because unlike, say, Tim Gettinger, Ronning can't be projected to play a 4th-line role at the NHL level. He couldn't even play that role at an AHL-level over the prior two seasons. And he's really not going to be good enough to stick on an NHL team in a mid-six role.

He's a good shooter, but needs to play with skill players to help set him up even at lower levels. I see his upside as AAAA scoring winger who gets an injury call-up or two over his career. 10 years ago, he would probably be 15-20 in the Rangers system rather than 25-30.
