I'm struggling with this anology because running a marathon and playing hockey are so different
But playing 24 mins a night isn't beyond a well conditioned athlete, and it appears Panarin understands how to pace himself shift to shift so he's not always running at 100%. The team doesn't play again until Wednesday so there's plenty of recovery time.

In other words.. If you're going balls out for 2 mins at a time (no such thing as pacing yourself unless you want to give up goals) , how are you going to have any energy toward the latter part of the game?
They're athletes not super heroes

McKegg has had a very strong game. Nice feed to Howden in the slot

One of Howden and Andersson will go down when Zib returns but it should really be both of them.

So close....damn these Panthers - Rangers games make for some good hockey. If we were 100% healthy and didn't take penalties we are the superior team easily, though.

It won’t be Howden. This Howden hate has kind of taken off here it’s silly.

I will say next tim anyone tells me again that Lias is the one stuck with McKegg instead of vice versa I will laugh

Of course you can pace yourself, especially when you gain and control the puck in the O zone.
But think about it; a hockey period goes for approx 35 mins. If Panarin plays 8 mins a period (24 min game) his work rest ratio is somewhere around 1:4. He then gets a full 18 minute rest after that. That's not unsustainable.

I'll agree to disagree.
There's a reason why the best coaches and most successful teams play short tight shifts.

Your perfect example is Kovalev and that SC winning team
