I think it's a fair statement to say we are not hard enough on the puck in our top nine. I also see no need to wait for the next coach to come in here before posting about possible changes. Is that not a purpose of this board? I ask you this, if you had to choose between zucc and hags who would you keep figuring in trade value and etc? I ask because those are the type of decisions that need to happen to get better IMO. We have Nash, step, brass to build around and to me everyone else in our top 9 is trade bait.

I keep Hagelin because he can be a better and faster player than Zuc. I never said my thoughts are what you have to think, so don't give me the "Isn't this why we come here" schtick.

What makes Brassard a fixture and not Hagelin?

What exactly is this team built to do effectively in the offensive zone? Because I struggle to come up with something other than outworking the opposition down low....

We can start with someone being in front of the net....go back and watch games from this season, the times we do skate it into the o zone the first man in goes to the opposite corner to retrieve the inevitable dump around the boards.

And I keep zucc because he plays with an edge, is an outstanding playmaker and adds to the power play. He also comes cheap and hags nets us better return IMO because most feel hags the better player.

I think we should keep both Hags and Zucc.

Hagelin brings some X-factor with his speed and Zucc is a passing wizard which we so desperately need.

Agreed.

Hagelin is like a scrappy hound dog going after the puck and flushing it out for his linemates. He doesn't get on the scoreboard much, but he provides the opportunity for his linemates to get points...and makes it difficult for the opposition to get any momentum.

Zuc is a wonderful little player, but man, that size. If there was some way for him to get an extra 6 inches, he'd be a stud. As it is right now, he can wear down and be neutralized. Really love watching him on the ice though. Adorable little waterbug.

Sather, 69, said he would continue as the Rangers’ general manager next season, but he is expected to be succeeded as soon as the next season by one of his two assistant general managers: Jim Schoenfeld or Jeff Gorton.

Gorton ran the Rangers while Sather was hospitalized after prostate surgery in March. As the interim general manager of the Bruins for four months in 2006, Gorton acquired Tuukka Rask, signed Zdeno Chara and drafted Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand, all key figures on Boston’s team entering the Stanley Cup finals Wednesday.

“I thought they did a real good job,” Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli said Tuesday of what Gorton and the Bruins’ staff did in 2006.

Jeff Gorton is 44 years old. Jim Schoenfeld turns 61 in September. Slats turns 70. What's the difference between 61 and 70?

They also selected Kessel 5th after attempting to switch picks with the Caps at #4 to select Backstrom.

Chiarelli spoke about the Rask trade today

Chiarelli was not yet general manager of the Bruins as he was finishing out his obligations with the Ottawa Senators, and acting GM Jeff Gorton executed the trade for the Black and Gold.

“I do have recollection. From the sidelines in talking to the guys after the fact, it was Tlusty or Rask for Raycroft,” Chiarelli said. “There was a lot of discussion at both ends about it. It was decided that it would be Rask from Boston's end.

“I think they tried to come back and maybe flip that, consider [Tlusty], who is a good player in Carolina now. Eventually they said no and the deal was done.”

Yessssss.

The day Sather steps down, we are having a party.

Still holding my breath on that one, would he move away from Rangers organization for good or just step down as GM? Perhaps if he is away from this organization for good, it'll definitely be time to celebrate. But if he is still team President, it may be the same old good ol' boys club. Gorton and Schoenfeld as Sather's puppets, Sather still maintains a say in hockey operations, away from media scrutiny.

Lindy Ruff and Jim Schoenfeld played together in Buffalo.

The Rangers already went down the Schoenfeld buddy road with John Tortorella.

Not that much difference between Ruff and Torts.

They scream and yell at everyone.

Its probably going to be Vigneault. Definitely prefer him over Ruff.

AV is pretty much the polar opposite of Tortorella. Ironic they're both interviewing for eachother's old positions.

Both of them are huge question marks, as is Zuccarello. Thats 3 of the top 6. And Hagelin is this team's best LW. Yikes.

Good point! Still there are many Rangers fans who post here that believe that the team is loaded with talent.
