So it's unacceptable when a good player does it, but when a washed up player does the same, it's okay?
It isn't that simple and you know it. One was a point a game player in his prime who was the cornerstone of the franchise and, now, FIVE years later could still play for any team in the NHL. Not easy for a franchise to replace that but the demand put the Devils in a really dubious position and impacted their organization for years afterwards.
And, FWIW, I don't care that he did it. That the Devils did it. That Naslund did it. That Klein did it. I don't have a problem with early retirement if both sides are good with it. However:
