The Kings have a lot of centers, like a lot. An enviable amount. The Rangers could use one more to develop, and have a few defenders and wingers that could interest the Kings.

Assuming the Kings draft Quinton Byfield, they will also have Alex Turcotte, Gabe Vilardi (looked awesome right out of the gate), and Tyler Madden, who I think is going to eventually develop into a good NHL role player just like his father (ugh). The Kings clearly valued Madden highly in the Tyler Toffoli trade, so I imagine they think he can be a substantial part of the core moving forward. I also know it is possible somebody (Byfield/Turcotte, or even Blake Lizotte) shifts to wing to make room for everybody.

For the sake of discussion and making an old fashioned hockey trade, what would it take here?

Appreciate the kind reply. Just for that, we will add Lias Andersson

Trading one of our top three center prospects - Turcotte, Vilardi, and likely Byfield - for ultimately a second-pairing offensive defenseman just doesn’t make sense for LA. I’m interested in DeAngelo, but not at the price of one of those three. If we’re talking about something like Akil Thomas and a second, or JAD and Clague, I’m definitely listening. The Kings would have a pretty good defense in the next year or so.

Bjornfot - Doughty
Anderson - DeAngelo
Clague - Roy

I don't think LA would sell Turcotte after 1 NCAA year. Vilardi has exceeded expectations after his injuries. And obviously they're going to draft Byfield/Stutzle.

Honestly NY doesn't have anything realistic and interesting for the first two. I'm sure its just as bad of an idea but id see the most realistic idea being LA adds something to #2 in order to get Laf. I just don't know what that is, and I doubt NYR go for it

Not realistic at all, it would cost a couple of the guys LA fans already dont want to trade

NYR has no reason to settle for less.

If NYR keep DeAngelo then Lundkvist becomes available.

If NYR deal DeAngelo, and keep Lundkvist, then one of K'Andre Miller or Nick Jones becomes a trade chip given similar skill sets and only so much room. Also, taking into account Fox and DeAngelo/Lunkvist (rd's) are an offense minded threesome, I would speculate Robertson (ld) is not on the table.

Lindgren - Fox
? - Trouba
? - DeAngelo or Lundkvist

So, going forward. Given LA's deep center prospect pool and NYR's deep defense pool and both teams seem to compliment each other time table wise. There seems to be the basis of a deal there somewhere to be found.

Byfield/Stutzel (c), Vilarde (c), Madden (c), Turcotte (c). (And Kopitar isn't "old" yet)

DeAngelo (rd), Lundqvist (rd), Miller (ld), Jones (ld).

You cannot honestly say any of those players are garbage or throw-in's. They all have value.

In a perfect world NYR trade DeAngelo for a similar age 1LD who is a in the 70/30 Defence/Offence range, and one of Jones/Miller for a center.

A puck moving RHD is definitely a need for LA, but if the price is Turcotte, Vilardi, or Byfield, it had better be a true 1RD coming back. DeAngelo is not that and never will be, in my opinion. I think a more realistic trade would be a Rasmus Kupari and picks for a really good #2.

Have Kempe or Iaffalo played center recently? Or have they been relegated to the wing? As a Sabres fan we have any of Colin Miller, Brandon Montour or Rasmus Ristolainen available as puck-moving Right shot defensemen.

Any word on how Kupari is doing since tearing his ACL? What additional picks along with Kupari?

Seems to be rehabbing just fine. No setbacks that I’m aware of. If anything, this long break will really help him. I would imagine Vegas’ second-round pick is available as well. Amadio might be a literal toss in that could find his game elsewhere, too.
