Actually the comparison out there is he is the next EK, not Lidstrom, so, crazy offensive talent, no D havin I guess? I have not seen him play either.

Rasmus Dahlin Scouting Report: 2018 NHL Draft #1

Dahlin is quite simply the best draft defence prospect we have seen in a decade. Terms like “generational talent” are thrown around often but in Dahlin’s case it is very much deserved. The sky is the limit as far as his potential goes. Now in terms of a style (not talent) comparison, he has the offensive game of an Erik Karlsson, with the defensive game of Drew Doughty. He should be in the NHL and a big-time contributor next season

Also worth noting he made the Swedish Men's Olympic team this year, months prior to being drafted. He's gonna be a great one.

That's as close to a sure thing as one can get. I'll be following him once he's drafted; sounds like he'll be a dominant player; really excited to see what he can do (even if he isn't in Rangers Blue).

The highlight of the game for me was Chytil holding his own against Barzal. Kept up with him and yes while the Corsi #s may not have been pretty, no real chances. The goal was with Ziba's line on I believe. Chytil will mature tremendously each of the next few off seasons. I really didn't realize how good a skater he is.

Anderson did some nice things too. Definitely needs to work on his skating and the crispness of his passing but that'll come.

Still don't get Vesey on the PP other than a net front presence.

I was fine with the result, losing the battle to hopefully win the war. Need those extra percentage points in the draft. Philly should win on Saturday as they haven't clinched yet, and hopefully Chicago can continue the spoiler role, and Edmonton can take care of Vancouver. This franchise needs some elite talent. Hasn't really had any offensive high ends prospects since Amonte/Weight/Kovalev which was 27-28 years ago (I don't count Savard because he wasn't here long enough and it took him three teams later and a league reset to become that guy). Drafting has been pretty to very good since the 05 "reboot" but it's time to finally have a couple of NYs homegrown guys to take the bull by the horn.

Wouldnt that be something, getting 7th pick (altgough that could change) 1 more loss, an edmonton win over Vanc. AND Chicago only really needing a loser point as they have more ROW than we do. Oh yeah, dont worry, these last few losses no one will remember.

I can see the Hawks winning at least one of their next two games, if not both.
They would prob love to player spoiler to one of their biggest rivals in St. Louis, and Winnipeg has already clinched second in the Central so they're prob gonna rest most of their big name players for the playoffs

O'Gara or Gilmour as a 7th next year is fine. On their second contracts, both will be affordable and serviceable to play every once in a blue moon.

the 7th D spot is going to be full of players if they keep them all, Kampfer, Gilmour, O'Gara, There is also Bigras who if re-signed will require waivers. Sproul who I assume is not kept but him too if so.

Lias strikes me as a player that needs consistent linemates so he can understand their game...he really seems to read chytil well.
Lias needs to break in as a winger in the top 9. His shifts next to Chytil are much better. His board work is strong. And he can pop goals in around the net. He’s not going to drive the play. He’s a winger.

On Ryan Sproul, kind of off topic, but for any of you who watch The CW DC shows, Sproul looks like he could be brothers with Mon El from Supergirl (Chris Wood). It's downright creepy.

Gilmour is a trainwreck...however the bones are there for him to be a good defenseman. He needs good coaching...something he's not getting obviously.

I don't really see it...I don't think he quite sees the game well enough to be more than a depth guy who can fill in because of his speed.

I have no issue with that. Ideally if he could move to center once he's comfortable it'd be worth exploring since he has good defensive instincts and positioning.
For the time being, he can play wing since we have a glut of centers anyway - a lot easier for wingers to hang around down low, could play a prime Parise sort of style in terms of seeming to always be right there for a garbage goal.

I think he's got an insane skillset, but the idea that he's going to be a big time contributor next season seems like a bit much to me. He's scoring .5ppg in the SHL this year, do people honesty expect him to put up more than that in the NHL just one year later? I think a big time scoring d-man should put up at least 40. I'm not saying it's impossible, but that's a huge leap for a player to make.

Look at Karlsson, wasn't a big time contributor until year 2, wasn't dominating until year 3. That seems a lot more likely/realistic.

I agree. D men have a longer learning curve and do need time to adjust and learn, no matter how great they may be.
