Panarin is a huge reason why this group keeps running through coaches. Gets a pass because he produces (fair) and also because he only very rarely speaks to the media so doesn't have all the sound bites for people to pounce on.

If you move him, that's obviously a heck of a lot of production to make up for, but I struggle to see how they really change the culture and identity of the team with him still here. That's 20min a night, a full period, where they aren't forechecking and going North/South.
Panarin is the reason that Quinn was overbearing or that Gallant couldn’t put a cohesive scheme together? Did you notice that when the team quit on Laviolette Panarin was the only one who stayed in his lane and continued to produce? You can feel whatever about what Panarin brings or doesn’t but at least put a bit of an effort when posting.

Probably some trauma from before my times... Like when the NYR had all those aging high earners way before the Cap era and even before the Dark Ages.

Sorry my post was not up to your standards. We’ve had multiple coaches come in with some level of mandate to change how this team plays, and Paranin’s game has barely moved. He plays the way he wants to play.

And like I said, he produces. But you can’t tell me with a straight face that this guy has shown any level of adaptation across coaches. The only thing that has happened is taking his most enabling linemate (Strome) for someone who has the motor to make up for what Panarin refuses to do.

I think Panarin definitely does just play however he wants a lot but the issue to some extent is the last two coaches kinda letting his teammates also do that. Lavi beat them into shape for a bit but

Most coaches will probably give Panarin some free rein. Sullivan has coached better players though and gotten a lot out of them. One of them was even Russian! How he’d handle Panarin though well maybe see

Why does it really matter if he doesn't change his game, when he still produces and outscores the other team while on the ice? Maybe he knows better what he needs to do to be successful than the coaches who get hired/fired around the league on a yearly basis.

Don’t remember the date and it was largely glossed over, but it was def during one of those bad home losses to the sabres
Should be breach of contract.. that and the going through the motions. Hopefully that or he bounces back...

Every time I read this thread title:

I can't help but think about poor Trevor:

That wasn't my original title. I'm not complaining because every other time I scooped the board, magically someone else's post replaced mine as OP.

I’m on the other side of this conversation. I saw Panarin playing hard when others were clearly punched out. A fair amount of warts but the effort was there.

The locker room may be another issue altogether.
So Bob, I guess the question becomes... he's in his last yr... he's obv a tremendous talent... but expensive & tends to play "his way" no matter what. & With some results.

Do you deal him or keep him?

If keep, do you even want or try to resign him?

It’s a fair question but it all depends on where his head is at. That full no trade and $11MM+ price tag makes him a very tough piece to deal. First question is will he accept a trade? If yes, where? And then who will pay the price both in dollars and compensation? Not sure you can line up all of those pieces, get a good return and handle the money. Thats why I am siting in my living room and Drury makes the big bucks.

Fair enough & about where I am besides your experience & expertise

You can’t bring in a new culture until the cancers are removed. Plain and simple. I don’t care what coach is coming in.

Remove Kreider, zibs, panarin, and rock for brains Key,
