Confirmed with Link: Rangers hire Mike Sullivan to

So Drury's plan all along was to give a 29 year old goalie and absurd contract, trade a 1st and young player for a 32 year old center, make his new guy the highest paid coach in the league, get rid of the vets, and ice a roster of B prospects for a coach who doesn't trust young guys? Bold strategy.

Such a pessimist. To the gulag with you!

lol my dude(tte?) we haven't even hit the real off season yet, how can you say same players and run it back
OK, if the team's core evolves/changes before start of year, I will be more optimistic.

What I don't see (but hope!) is Sullivan squeezing more out of Zib, Kreider, Laf, Trocheck - I don't see him developing Gabe or Othmann.

In two years time, the team will naturally look completely different, but is Sullivan the proper long play? I don't know, I am down on it though. Hope I am wrong

2 things that I really do not get.

1. Who are all the great young players that Sully refused to play?

2. Who are our outstanding young players who are not playing. I think Rempe has played well. I'm hopeful for Oth and Berard but its not like either was killing it in the AHL.

I'm all for getting younger, faster, and tougher in our top 6 but we need to find those players. We have not really had them lately.

2. How would we know? We've been ride or die with vets who aren't geared to play in tight games for years now. Laf-Chytil-Kakko was our best 5v5 line in the playoffs THREE years ago, but we're still here now dealing with a lockerroom that has no leadership or identity.

All I know is I have a trig midterm tomorrow and I’m being chased by Guido the Killer Pimp 🤷‍♂️
Just remember that all angles in a triangle must add up to 180. That's all you need to know.

Let the record also show that trig is the most useless branch of math. Stochastic calculus and cryptography are where the cool kids hang out.

Edit: I mentioned knot theory -- but there are some (however limited) applications to trigonometry in knot theory, so I'll back out from that.

Sullivan is a very good coach, but too much needs to change with the roster for me to really care. Throw a bag at Jay Leach to coach the defense. Peca is Drury’s guy, so I’d expect him to stay. Maybe they’d see if Muse will go to Hartford? Wouldn’t be the first time an assistant got moved to be an AHL head coach.

Now let’s see what player personnel moves follow. That’s what matters most.

Love the Rangers trying to reproduce USA Hockey like it's ever won anything.
My disappointment is that the last time Sullivan coached a meaningful game with a star roster, he basically benched Adam Fox for Brock Faber and the 'best USA team ever' couldn't put 3 past Jordan Binnington.

Sullivan isn't going to come in here and institute a forecheck. Quinn wanted N-S forechecking. What was it? Relentless? Gallant wanted the same thing. That's how his Golden Knights played. Laviolette said the same thing.

Sullivan will get here, see he's got a roster of forwards who can't skate, defensemen who can't pass, the components of a good PP and good goaltending. What's he going to do? Show a bunch of Carl Hagelin highlights and suddenly the team will play his hockey and win?

He'll sit the faster energetic kids for the more conservative, efficient veterans. Live and die by special teams and goaltending. and generally caveman it up.

Let @TheDirtyH cook!

I agree with the sentiment Ive seen that the arrival of Sullivan is going to curtail some of Drury's autonomy. That is probably for the best because even his defenders would agree that Drury has been heavy handed with his dealnsg with players. Gallant and Laviolette were just guys doing a job. Sullivan is far more hands on and I assume will have some say in roster moves. The organization needed another voice and one that is theoretically on the same page as management with what they want in a roster.

Also, worth reminding that only one coach has won a Cup with two different teams since 1960, so no pressure Mike!

Drury looks to be building Team USA.... so I wouldn't be surprised to see a base deal of Laffy++ for Tkachuk

Copium is that Drury makes the necessary moves to trim the fat
