The whole reason why I brought up the hosting of a stadium series game was because there’s son stipulation that the Rangers have with MSG that they can’t be the home team anywhere else otherwise they void they’re contract there.

It's part of the agreement with the city to keep the arena property tax exempt.

There's something about the two teams that play in MSG that makes them think that they are "New York's premier team" just based on location. There's a reason as a 9 year old in the Bronx that I picked the Devils in 98-99 when I had the ability to watch all three teams on TV.

This is a hot take. I've always thought that Drury UFA signing was the quintessential example why the NYR have been mostly a failure of a franchise. All the money and location advantages to attract players but the ones they end up attracting stop prioritizing hockey over enjoying their new money and location. Drury was an absolute dud player for them that somehow became President lol.

To be fair, the only thing many people know about NY is what they see on television, which is almost always just NYC. Because of this, I'm assuming most of the people who don't think of Buffalo as a NY team would also need a couple of guesses to name the state capitol.

Sounds like a couple of conversations I've had. Went to high school in a small town in upstate NY, about 4 hours from the city.

I also remember having a few conversations with people who grew up in NYC acting like we must all be hicks up there in the boondocks, driving our tractors to school.

Anything not in NYC (including Long Island) is upstate! Westchester? Upstate. Poughkeepsie? UPSTATE!

As someone that grew up in Rockland and lived in the city for many years this always amused me.

Unfortunately for Jacob intensity and leadership aren't worth $8 million a year otherwise he'd still be a Ranger. He's a fantastic fit in Anaheim because he's not a productive hockey player, and Anaheim needs not-productive hockey players right now for the tank

Not true at all we aren’t tanking. We didn’t acquire Trouba to be worse. He’s not worth 8 million but he’s been an effective player for Anaheim.
