How do I fail my way into one of these positions?![]()
He calls Dolan "Mr. D"
That kind of tells you everything you need to know. Typical country club, old boys club nonsense.
He's turned the Rangers from a President's trophy-winning, Eastern conference-making team to one with in-fighting, unhappy players, and not even making the playoffs. And he's been present for all of it, starting down in Hartford.
The current core is old. The league is getting younger and faster. Adding JT Miller was the wrong move. He’s old and plays slow. The Rangers need to get younger and faster in their core. Drury is clearly there to try and squeeze more juice out of an old core. I guess he’s convinced his ownership there’s juice to squeeze. Otherwise they don’t extend him.I can't remember the last time I feel a GM failed at every aspect of the job as much as Drury has. He's arrogant with the media, he doesn't support his players, he's not putting people in a place to succeed, he's making bad trades, he's throwing youth under the bus, he's disrespecting vets, and on and on.
The only positive move I can remember is the JT Miller trade. But that was a specific case where the player wanted out of his old team and only wanted to play for NYR. No genius needed from Drury to just take the opportunity that only he got.
This move guarantees that the current core in New York is doomed to fail, and they're burning a few years at minimum.

What do you like most about Drury? Ruthlessly trading his mistakes, while killing team morale?
