Confirmed with Link: Rangers extend D Will Borgen

how in the f*** do you put that on Miller? Taking the puck deep is maintaining possession. Maintaining possession means you can't be scored on.

Borgen made a bad decision at the end of a good game. Panarin didn't back check. And convert on a great chance. Game over.
LOL...even if Panarin did backcheck...has anybody ever actually witnessed him catch anyone ? Maybe if he had an ant eater type tongue he might snap a guy back . It tends to be hanging out of his mouth by a lot LOL.....

Comparing Kakko to Jordan and Bird is one of the more insane things I’ve read on this board since 2011.

That's disappointing. The competitor in me wants it to be the most insane thing. Instead, I'm just clustered with the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest posters on the main board.

I'll work to elevate my insanity game

That is a fair point but what if the first shot (or 2) don't go in? He has to get back to help. He looks totally gassed. I understand staying out because he wanted to help us score but hindsight being 20/20 he should have changed earlier if his legs were shot.

If you want to blame him for that sure. Game wouldve been long over without Borgen's play before that.

Miller took himself out of position. Why did he need to skate it down low? Just dump it in and play your position. It was a tie game. Just a lack of situational awareness from everyone on the ice.

TIL that every D-man on the Rangers is allowed to pinch deep instead of Miller. Nevermind the fact that Miller wasn't even pinching, but is the one that gained the zone, took it deep, and waited for everyone to set up and make the pass to Borgan who had more than enough time to make the decision to either dump it, give it back to Miller, or shoot. This is one of the dumbest f***ing takes I've ever seen on this board.

Hell, Borg could've even passed it back to Shesty while the forwards changed if he had some situational awareness, in which he was the only one that had a lack of it.

I never understood why that does not happen more often ...the back p[ass to the goalie ?

If Borg passes that back down low, there is a potential great scoring chance with 1 player defending 2 in the middle. If that player gives any space at all, it's a pass for a point blank shot by Trocheck with a screen taking place in front of the goalie. We win and it's a great play by Miller getting that puck in. We lose and it's Miller's fault because somebody else F'd it up. I rip on Miller quite a bit, but anybody blaming Miller is just mad that he didn't sit back and get a free point. But his play didn't cost us getting a point.

I wasn't there and I can't tell you if Panarin was calling for the puck, vocally. If you're Borg and you see Panarin calling for it, you most likely try to give it to him. Either way, it's not on Miller.

Situation was a bit dangerous no matter what with Makar coming out of box on Breads side with Bread gassed. If Borg sends it deep or shoots there is always a chance that AVs get it and feed Makar behind Bread. Lot of what ifs but its 1 game out of 82. Have to move past it.

If he chose to shoot, highly likely that Kiviranta blocks it or the puck deflects and the play goes the other way. Kiviranta was directly in his shooting lane.

But yes, time to move on.

He shouldn't be shooting or sending it deep. He should be giving the puck back to a wide open Miller. It is what is it at this point, but Borg made a bad decision there.

I’d have to watch the vid again, but this screenshot makes the pass seem way less egregious than I remembered.

Slightly related, a lot of the defenders on this team over the past couple of years LOVE to pass the puck to a covered Panarin when he slides up to that left point spot. It’s so bad that I wouldn’t even insult the telegraph by calling it that.

Makar doing his best "You can't see me" here.

Jokes aside, he moves fast and came flying out of the box. The slight delay and the slightly off pass was all Makar needed.

Honestly, I want to punch all 3 Rangers in the face

Panarin: stop directing play you jabroni
Miller: take the puck behind the net or get it in front
Borgen: play that shit back to Miller if you’re going to pass it into double coverage you idiot

there is absolutely nothing wrong with the decision or execution on millers part here.

Based on this image there is also a wide open Panarin. Borgen cannot see behind him. Someone needs to tell him Makar is coming hard. That someone either has to be the bench, Miller, or Trocheck, who are on the ice facing that direction and can see him.

I would hope it was the bench yelling and Shesty banging his stick hard. Kam and Vince are may be more focused on the puck.

I’m not happy about the deal but to suggest Borgen won’t be in the NHL at 33 is a radical take.

Everyone was pissed when Nemeth was making 2.5 on the bottom pairing just a few years back. Borgen does actually need to be consistently competent over the course of the deal for this contract to make sense. Let’s hope he does that
The league is getting younger and younger. To suggest that a 33 year old Will Borgen won't be an NHL commodity in 5.5 years isn't absurd at all. Injuries, wear and tear, they are inevitable for a player like him. If this was 25 years ago, then I'd say he'd be able to hold on for awhile.
