If you take Howden out, then you have to elevate Lemieux who I haven’t been thrilled with lately.
He’s been a little undisciplined for his role and he hasn’t generated enough on the forecheck to warrant it.
And as much as Howden has avoided the score sheet like the plague, he has done well on the PK unit and it’s another guy to take face offs with Chytil still not 100%.
Not to mention he’s putting Rooney with Chytil to take the draws for him. So you have to have Rooney or Howden with Chytil. Easy decision there.
I see the reasoning but I think a PDawg Blackwell switch is obvious considering how hot a stick Blackwell has had.
Maybe Quinn has decided to give Laffy top PP time and not having Blackwell there to screw with his rationale is driving it. Who the hell knows

We had a garbage game last game that could have been 4-0 for the Devils and a humiliating defeat. That should be a wake up call for the players and the coaches. It'd be a missed lesson if we repeat last game's efforts with a different result.

Is Rooney really only in there because he’s 44% on faceoffs? Is that really worth making your 3rd line worse at every other aspect of the game? Just to win an extra half faceoff a game over Chytil?

I am (very) far from being a Quinn Apologist, but I agree with him sitting Blackbeard for this game. He had an abyssmal showing last game. HE will be back inthe lineup soon enough. Has been quite good since joining, far better than expected

No, it’s because Chytil was out with a hand injury and they want to avoid him taking face offs for now.

It is just getting ridiculous . He should be playing . Surely he has people in his camp that can have done what is needed to without him derailing any chance of a playoff . What if Nazarov had dropped this tidbit in the middle of the Cup finals and we were in it ??? Crazy....
