We also have a higher winning percentage after 45 games (.578) than we had last year after 70 games (.564).

At the 45 game mark last year, we were 22-19-4, a winning percentage of .533
And doing it against a tougher schedule than last year given that we are playing in arguably the toughest decision. Will be interesting to see how this team does once we return to playing out of division games.

He doesn't remind me of Panarin. Kravtsov is much more relentless on the puck.

Doesn't have the vision or the poise of Panarin. But, he might end up being a better shooter.

Honestly, I think Kakko and Kravtsov will become very similar types of players. Very good Power forwards.

The only question is which one has a higher ceiling.
I disagree. I feel he is nothing like Kakko. They might both be power forwards, but their styles are very different. And he does have vison. He is showing it every shift. Knows exactly what to do with the puck the second he has control. He of course is not even close to being as polished as Panarin. but you can definitely see he has vision of the ice and his teammates. More often than not he makes the right decisions with the puck. Plus you really underestimate how relentless Panarin is on the puck. He is on top of the opposition almost immediately,.. cutting off their outlets, checking and forcing turnovers, picking pockets from behind, and intimating puck handlers to make unforced errors.

I'm not saying he he will be as good as Panarin, just that he reminds me of him a little.

Quinn still needs to be fired.

For all his emphasis on the defensive side of the puck, the Rangers are still way too damn easy to play against when they are trying to protect a lead in the late stages. Notice how even teams like the Devils and Sabres, who really don't have much outside of a couple top skill players, all fly through the neutral zone unabated into the attacking zone on the rush. We all expect the lead to disappear because you can see it coming every time. It's way too passive a defensive style for late in the game when you've scored your goals and now you need to clamp down. These are all NHL players out there and you can't just back off repeatedly. I agree the Rangers should stay in an attacking style (best defense is to have the puck 200 feet away) but locking down the neutral zone will lead to that.

I agree, however my concern is the lack of development. You have a #1 overall pick on the f’ing bench over blackwell. You have the team’s leading goalscorer who can’t get PP time.

This isn’t the way.

Tough to bust up the PP. Even when it wasn't connecting the puck movement and zone time was fantastic. It's really not a bad problem to have that you have enough talent to ice a good top PP and that unit doesn't include Buchnevich. 2nd unit should be completely revamped, though.

I can also point to multiple high draftees, who played 15-20 minutes a night. Everyone wants Eichel. How did Eichel become Eichel? Not by sitting on the bench.

I literally don’t understand this. What top pick has sat this much and succeeded? We have the vets, sure. But what is the plan? To trade Kakko and Laffy after you set them up to fail?

If this is still going on next year, it would not surprise me in the least if their agents started having some conversations.

After sweeping a four games series, and winning 8 of our last 11,... I don't know which I want more? For the Rangers to pursue their playoff hopes,... Or,.... for them to cut bait so our whiney Rangers fans can see their future stars play more minutes and stop complaining. Hmm, it's a tough choice.

Kreider and Trouba might end up being be the worst contracts in Rangers history.
Not sure how you can say this when we’ve seen the likes of Redden Holik and the rest of the river of shit that have just come here to cash a paycheck, these 2 guys will pay dividends come playoff time. Kreids looking injured to me. He hasn’t hit top gear in a while. Trouba been quietly steady as usual

The Sabres have recently beaten the Caps and today they defeated the Pens. Games can’t be taken for granted and to my mind anyway the Devils are historically as big a rival to us as the Islanders. They and their fan bases f***ing hate us. They get up for these games and especially after being shut out twice and getting yelled at by their coaches. In the end what matters is not whether weaker teams stage comebacks but that you win the games you’re supposed to win and over these four games with the Devils we did. There is no moral to this apart from who scores the most goals. We should respect our opponents though even in times when they kind of suck. Upsets are always out there even for the best of teams.

What we need to do next is beat the Isles.

Is it either/or?

Imo they can pursue the playoff hopes (such as they are) and also play the kids more (and the slugs less) at the same time.

The kids don't hurt our chances The kids are alright.

@Edge is this the plan? Because Quinn is ruining these kids.
Are you asking for insider knowledge that the organization is purposely ruining prospects? Or that Lafreniere is planning to defect? What are their agents going to do?

Also am I f***ing crazy or did Kakko, Lafreniere, Chytil, Kravtsov, and Fox not all come away with points today?

I’m pretty sure the kids are more than fine with their ice time with the team being in the middle of a playoff hunt. When I look at our players in the last month or so quite often they have smiles on their faces. They’re excited. These games that they’re playing mean something and shared common or team goals come to the fore then over selfish or personal goals. For an individual putting up points is nice but not that nice when your team is losing all the time. That’s why Eichel’s not happy in Buffalo.

Not every game (like the last two) are going to look like masterpieces either. The main thing is to get the job. That said it’s not looking great as far as making the playoffs but even if we fail if we’re on a tear all the way down the stretch the team and the kids will feel good about themselves over the summer.

You’re not alone.

I don’t know what other people are seeing.
