Confirmed with Link: Rangers claim Arthur Kaliyev from LA

I'm not saying Drury is waving the white flag but the guy shipped out Trouba and Kakko for futures and fringe players, and would probably ship out other guys if a good deal came around. Doesn't exactly appear that the front office thinks much of our current chances. We've literally been the worst team in the league over the last 20 games.

Even then, if you believe we're in the race, seems unlikely that Kaliyev is going to step right into the lineup and move the needle. He's a longer-term investment IMO.

Im not convinced drury waived the white flag until we start selling off lindgren, smith etc.

Ao far he got rid of two disgruntles. And both those trades helped shore up our dcore immediately which can be interpreted as not really giving up.

but irregardless, being 4 pts in is still in the race.

I for one, still think we can easily make the playoffs, even though i would rather Drury waive the white flag and actually start the selloff and rebuild/retool

I said he didn't wave the flag. I agree with that. But I think it's clear our season is heading down the drain quickly with no real end in sight and the FO is starting to look to the team's future.

If they thought Kaliyev could help immediately move the needle they probably would have made a minor trade to acquire him rather than hoping he made it to 7th or whatever on waivers. That's my whole point, he wasn't a move made to fix anything now and it's not odd they're giving the dude a f***ing day or two to get settled in before throwing him to the wolves.

Oh misread your statement. my bad!

I agree i think our season is spiraling, i just also see that the east low key sucks and all it might take is a run. We also have been playing a little better as of late.

Also agree about Kaliyev. Just misread the statmebt.

I 100% don't care if a guy takes a ton of shots and is a volume shooter if he has a "good" shot as long as he's not the centerpiece of the offense and we're not paying him stupid money

Shoot away, son.

There’s something to be said about shooting from all angles. It’s not just about scoring from those angles, it’s getting pucks in and around the net and causing havoc when doing it. He should help with that

Most players would get plugged in the day after. Give him mostly pp time then since that's his specialty and we need help there and limited 5 on 5. Don't syh at me buddy .
Ok so let’s look at it logically, rather than “he must play the next day”.

Should Kaliev replace Lafreniere, Panarin, Smith, Berard, Cuylle? Nope. Should he then replace Brodzinsky? That would mean Kaliev without practice would be joining Zibanejad - Smith (and taking of Brodz who had a good game in a win previously). Does this make sense to you?

We already know what Brodz is, he comes in, has a good game or two and then reverts back to a nhl-ahl tweener. I have no problem putting him where he belongs in the lineup. The hilarious thing about all this is the organization likely just wants to give kaliyev a practice or two to get used to this crap system. I'd actually rather Kaliyev teach the rest of the team L.A.'s system. The biggest issue in my mind is that the organization doesn't know how to make players feel wanted. We trade Kakko because he's unhappy with how things have gone. Does Seatlle hold him out for a 4th liner? No, they put him on a top line and give him pp mins to build him back up. If Kaliyev isn't given top 6 mins or at the least play with Chytil and Cuylle with Kreider out they may as well have left him on waivers, we've lost a ton of games with the current roster, it isn't about them anymore, it's about cultivating a player we could use to help today and in the future.

Depends on whether you're an aspiring actress who moved to LA from Nebraska
It is unfortunate I'm not.

He's perfect for this dysfunctional group

He's slow
He's kinda eh 5v5
His defensive game is suspect
He's a PP specialist who doesn't score many goals
He's a sniper who doesn't snipe much

And let's not forget the famous "lazy Russian"
narrative us old timers here used to enjoy.

He's Russian so of course I wanted us to draft him in 19.

Welcome to your spirit animal team AK34
Kaliyev is no Russian name. Presumably some minority of Turkic Islamic origin in Uzbekistan.

How did Arty 2.0 do in his debut? The boxscore says 0 SOG, surely that is a typo. I was promised that he would shoot from anywhere.
