Rule #1 as a goaltender is to play the shooter. You could've driven a truck through Crawford's legs. Bad goal. Zuccarello goal was far worse.

yes you play the shooter and let the defensman take the pass. Unfortunately, Cally was open and it appeared (I could be wrong) that the shot beat him over the pad, not in the 5 hole. Zucc's goal was bad; poor stick positioning for Crawford. But then he made some phenomenal stops; both goalies had their moments.

which is fair but McDonagh also faces off against very fast skaters on other teams and doesn't get beaten repeatedly like Keith did last night.

I sure as hell am not saying I wouldn't take Keith on this team or even that McDonagh is overall better than him! Just that I was really surprised at how Keith was playing defense last night

I am saying McD is better than him since they are primarily paid to play defense. Keith would be a better wing; but he doesn't play wing.

Not gonna go into too much detail, but the most important thing for me last night was the fact that Nash, Callahan and Staal all looked really good.

For the Rangers to be successful we'll need to see those three names on the positive side of the ledger as we move towards the break.

3Good game. One of the best showings the Rangers have had all year.

I thought they got good performances from a lot of the forwards tonight and the defense played within themselves. Bent but didnt break at times. Really got the job done in front the last few minutes. This was a big one for Henrik and his confidence, to go on the road and beat the defending champs. Only 2 loses at home all season.

This was the best skating ive seen from Nash all year. He actually was exuding passion and fire out there, seeking out battles. Good to see. Im wondering if the Team Canada selection and the win against Columbus regenerated his confidence. This is two games in a row hes played well. The Rangers are going to need it if they want to make the playoffs. They are a much more dangerous team when hes on his game.

I feel like Richards has lost a step and is standing around a lot not moving his feet, but unlike last season his saavyness with the puck is opening up lanes for himself and his teammates.

And i have to mention one other thing, while I actually have a positive post going here for once. You have to be thrilled with what the Rangers are doing on the PP. 6th overall, 3rd on the road. Lightyears better then last season. They are a joy to watch on the PP (and who wouldve though that after the last few seasons) and ******* it if they had that going on last season they probably wouldve made the conference finals. Thats really that much of a difference maker if you go back and look at the chances they missed in the close games. I said it when it was happening, i blame Torts for not having a coach solely dedicated to it, and Sather for allowing him to continue it. But thats in the past. I am pleasantly socked at how well they are moving the puck. They are really building a special PP identity, showing tons of confidence and having fun doing it. Thats an enormous weapon come April.

Best thing I've read in this thread. If a key part of the new identity the Rangers build is.....their power play?

Yeah. That's big.

Correct, but he wasn't cheating at all. He played the shot. Refer to my post here

That still doesn't show that Hank is moving slightly to his left at the time and his reaction is an attempt at compensation. I also see daylight on the short side there, which wouldn't happen if he was perfectly square to the shooter at that angle.

I don't consider that a soft goal, because it was a great shot, but your analysis is a little bit off.

People are still criticizing Lundqvist after coming up with a 35-save win against the best offensive team in the NHL?

Find something new to complain about. It's seriously getting old.

Lundqvist let up a goal he should have stopped. Crawford let up two goals he should have stopped. And I suppose since Talbot is better than both, the Rangers would have won this 3-0?

Henrik has been strong in four out of his last five performances. He slowly but surely getting better.

People need to find new points of conversation on here. I've never seen anyone complain about a goaltender beating the defending Stanley Cup Champions on the road with a .946SV%. Again, find new things to talk about.

I would personally not have said anything if nevesis wasn't being ridiculous after this game as he's been all season, absolving Lundqvist of 99.9% of the goals he's given up.

Marc Staal was amazing last night, just great game all around. Best player imo on the ice.

I didn't see the game and came here to try and get some insight into how we beat the defending champion Blackhawks who have absolutely steamrolled many teams in the past calendar year; All I've seen is pages and pages arguing about whether or not the second goal by Hank was a softie. Softie or not, it looks like the team did what they were supposed to and scored more goals than the other team. Reading through this thread you would think Hank blew the game by letting up that goal.

So now that Rangers beat one of the best teams in the NHL, does it mean we are a Cup team?

Rangers suck all year.

Rangers add Carcillo to lineup.

Rangers beat the Blackhawks in Chicago.

Hmmmm....

Rule #1 as a goaltender is to play the shooter. You could've driven a truck through Crawford's legs. Bad goal. Zuccarello goal was far worse.

Zukes goal was more pure luck on Zuke's side than Crawford making a bad play. Hitting the back of Crawford's blocker hand and into the far side, it would have sailed into the right circle somewhere if he didn't get lucky on his attempt. But it was a good hard play. Crawford had the door shut on the post. (and trust me, I'm not a fan of Crawford)

Hank wants that Bollig goal back, he played the angle, was most likely expecting a pass, and just got beat.
