There are bigger issues to be solved right now than goaltending. Yes, Georgiev needs to be traded offseason and a better backup aquired. But if you think Kinkaid is saving this team then I don't know what to tell you.

I thought we should have traded Georgiev before last season as I was afraid his value would only fall moving forward, and I think it definitely has.

With that in mind, it's been several years since Kinkaid has played well in the NHL and I'm not sure he'd be a better choice. He's probably more consistent than Georgiev in terms of knowing what you'll get from him, but he's also probably not going to steal the show like Georgiev can when he's on.

I think you stick with Georgiev and if there are problems further into the season, maybe try to make a move for someone else.

Give me Kinkaids consistent mediocrity over Georgievs coin flip starts. If anyone will take Georgiev then sayonara. It’s even more frustrating as the Rangers had seemingly solid backups for a good decade plus.

If the kid really is a head case as rumored then he better perform or I’d have him riding the bus again by Thanksgiving.

Shesterkin’s loss might be more dentrimental than a Fox loss at this point.

Is Jake Oettinger available? He started 23 games for the Stars last season. The Stars assigned him to the AHL this season. The writing was on the wall when the Stars signed Holtby this summer. They already had Bishop and Khodobin. Bishop is on LTIR. Jim Nill didn't go with the young guy. Oettinger's numbers were good last season. I am sure he was bummed out. He didn't abandon his team like someone we know. Oettinger is waiver eligible next season. He would rather make $800,000 than $70,000. He will probably get his opportunity again with the Stars next season. Holtby will be a free agent. Bishop and Khodobin have another year left on their contracts. You never know if Nill brings in another goaltender.

Georgiev îs awful. He hasn't been good since the 2019-2o season. He wasn't that good at times. He wants to be a #1 goalie. Maybe in the KHL. The Rangers should inquire if Oettinger is available.

Georgiev might very well clear as well with his current contract. Suggesting Kinkaid is an indictment of Georgie, no one is suggesting that Kinkaid woke up this morning and is suddenly a stud.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I’ve had preferred to dump Georgie in the offseason and pick up a capable vet. I wouldn’t go crazy after a few games but I would start reaching out around the league to see if someone has an upgrade whose maybe sitting 3rd on the depth chart somewhere.

Why would Dallas trade Oettinger? He is the goalie of their future. Teams try not to rush goalies as #1 until around 24/25...otherwise you get the Steve Mason/Carter Hart affect. If anything Khudobin will either go on waivers or go for a future considerations once Bishop comes back.
