GDT: Rangers at Devils part II

Clarkson's goal scoring isn't that crazy. This is was an undrafted guy who scored 17 goals in his 2nd full season on the 3rd/4th line (only 4 pp goals).

If you take his goals per game over his career .11 [ATOI 12:02], .21 [12:03], .24 [14:27], .15 (McLean season) [13:37], .38 [16:22], and .78 [17:31] (this season) they aren't crazy. He was 3rd line player for most of his career who now plays 2nd line and 1st pp minutes. I won't be surprised if he stayed around .30-.40 goals a game which is around ~25g - 33g over 82 games playing 2nd line minutes. 4 of his 7g this year are PP. That is half of what he did for us last year.

Excited to catch some of the game on replay in a few minutes..

Specifically Adam Larsson. I'm telling you, I don't think I was ever more impressed by him defensively. His stick was EVERYWHERE.
 
In terms of lines, I'm not sure there's a guy we could get back in a trade that would really make that first line click. And Zubrus needs to get off that first line right now. He's trying, and he doesn't look bad, but it's just not good enough, I don't think.

Honestly, even with line 2 playing like it did last night, I'd move Henrique back to that 1st LW. Move Zubrus with Elias and Clarkson and let that line go to town like it did with Rolston and Sykora. Elias and Zubrus have proven chemistry and so does Henrique and Kovalchuk. Zajac dishing to Henrique and Kovy sounds so much better than Zajac dishing to Kovy and Zubrus.

I can't find a copy of the current CBA online either, I only had the old one which is irrelevant now. The summary of points on the NHLPA site about the CBA mentions pretty much everything except the CHL.

I really don't think Matteau is AHL eligible. Otherwise, he'd be there.

Bingo.

Elias, Zubrus and Clarkson can cycle all day long and not lose a step. Henrique, Zajac and Kovy will try and create something off the rush more so then cycle the crap out of the defence to find a opening and a shooting lane.

Zubrus is almost a "waste" on our 1st line cause Kovy isn't going to cycle ala Parise when they played with Zajac. You need someone that will generate some attention away from Kovy, so he can find that sweat spot in the defence and fire away.

Henrique, to me, is a much better fit on our 1st unit and Zubrus looks like a beast when playing with Elias and Clarkson. Can someone past the memo to Pete please ;)

I think our LW for our 1st line has to come via trade. Semin would have been a perfect signing. If we were to trade for him the Hurricanes would have to really struggle.

Semin - Zajac - Kovy
Elias - henrique - Clarkson
Zubrus - Yayo - Butler/whoever

When we lost Parise I thought Semin was a lock to be his replacement.

His two kids were taking pictures with the Oscar while I was there. They are great kids. Dano rules with an iron first though, let me tell you. He says, they listen. Pretty humble group, all around.
