imagine if the Rangers signed JAM to a contract. he could have gotten a chance here but choose to sign elsewhere. i hate these AHL contracts because other teams take notice and up the contract to NHL to get their guy.

There's only so much you can do with ELCs. JAM was offered $925k a year, without any performance bonuses

JAM is one example out of a gazillion players signed to AHL deals...the guys with expected potential normally get NHL deals (if there is space under the 50 contract limit) and I'd guess that the majority of players on AHL deals end up signing with the NHL team they are with if there play warrants. JAM is definitely the exception to the rule here.

We tried to sign JAM but he wanted Columbus. He said he thought he had a better opportunity to make it there. We tried. JAM even said the offers were basically the same. Nothing we could have done.

Marchessault also didn't even "make it" until he was 26 and on his fourth organization (us, Columbus, Tampa, Florida). Who knows what would have happened with him had he stayed here? Some guys take a long time. Remember PAP? Same deal.

Heard there were actually 29 teams that inquired on Khodorenko and Rangers won the race by having a presence at several of his late season games.
I would also think it’s well-known that the Rangers are thin in terms of forward prospects and also probably not interested in paying for depth, considering their cap situation. I’d guess the Rangers present as good an opportunity for a young grinding forward as any team out there.
(Wouldn’t say the same about the Rangers with regard to defenseman and goaltenders, of course).

Keith?

that’s how you do the joke.

Can you share a more articulate way i could respond to Sock’s perceptions of both the salary cap and his solution for a more balanced fiscal future for the NHL? I don’t want to further confuse those who literally think Khodorenko reminds me of #99.

Steven, any shot we get one with a guy like Kravtsov? Or is it just guys whose seasons look to be 100% over? I'd like to hear how his thought process changed from the beginning of the year to now.

I asked him but he said he doesn't feel comfortable doing an interview with how the previous season played out. He doesn't want to risk saying something wrong etc.

I have interviews with Pajuniemi, Jones, Raddysh, Kjellberg and Ciccolini coming up still
