I thought he had an intriguing stint with the team. Obviously we played him at the end there to meet the requirements of the ED.
Still, guy is young yet.
Never forget: One of only 2 Rangers waiver pick ups to record a point on debut.
Guess who the other one is?
I'm hoping that he takes this offseason seriously and trains extremely hard. There will be at least 1-2 positions open this year in the bottom 6. He is a guy that could play PP but he needs to put in the work in order to get there.
What's interesting to me is that he's also exactly the kind of player an expansion team would look to pick up.
I don't see why. He's 24 and hasn't shown enough yet to be a regular in the NHL. Fast and Lindberg are only a year older and are much better players. If GMGM can work out a contract with either of them, he would almost certainly do that rather than select Puempel. If it comes down to Grabner, Holden or Puempel, I think Puempel is still last on his list.
Puempel is the only player the Rangers are exposing that has much of an upside compared to where they've been. Yeah, he hasn't made it yet, but he did look better and more productive in NY than he did in Ottawa. Expansion teams have taken players like that before.
While this is true, I don't see them taking Puempel over Fast/Lindberg
Because he's not where the others are now.Puempel is the only player the Rangers are exposing that has much of an upside compared to where they've been.

Nope. Bernie Geoffrion.
