Would trading a 1st + Cuylle/Berard/Edstrom as part of the Guentzel package made you happy? That would have been aggressive right? Not many big trades went down in the east and the Rangers dodged a bullet not getting Guentzel. The Buch trade would have been very expensive also. That's why he wasn't traded.

Yea, that would have been a disaster.

It's frustrating because they didn't do enough, couldn't without sacrificing their entire future... but also didn't do anything the other way around either.

They kind of "stood pat". Unless Roslovic goes off some how. Wennberg im not expecting much from at all.

IMO this deal was a steal for the Rangers and it came with retention. A 2026 4th rounder is basically nothing. I'm surprised JD helped the Rangers out on this one after being fired.

IMO this deal was a steal for the Rangers and it came with retention. A 2026 4th rounder is basically nothing. I'm surprised JD helped the Rangers out on this one after being fired.

JD is a good guy and a pro. I do not think he harbors many hard feelings especially not to Drury.

Late to the party, but love the Roslovic trade. Good dude, very humble, enjoys playing the game and interacting with fans...can skate stickhandle and shoot. Has under the radar top end skill but not quite physical enough or strong enough on puck protection to put it all together. Hopefully he can unlock 20-93 at even strength.

It could be, but my initial reaction was it was kind of a lateral move. It's one of those moves that will be judged on chemistry in the end. At first glance, a guy who puts up <.5PPG while playing 19 minutes and winning 46% of faceoffs doesn't seem like a big upgrade though, but last night he had a good game.

I've thought this team was 3 pieces away from seriously contending, and Roslovic could be one piece...Wennberg could be another. Ruhwedel is depth mostly. But really hoping the formula this playoffs is to actually be a good even strength team that pushes the pace, rather than a team of PP specialists that relies on goalieing their opponents every game.

Wennberg is better in his own end but based strictly on Brodz's numbers this year vs. Wennberg's the last two years, it's not an immediately apparent upgrade. Wennberg's Points Per Game rate is higher, but he's playing 70% more than Brodz was.

The key will be if he's able to find chemistry with Kakko and Cuylle to outperform his Seattle numbers the past two years.

With Zibanejad shitting the bed all season, I still think this team is one serious scorer away from being a top contender. They'll need to outperform expectations to get past a Florida, or even a Boston which I can still see giving them fits if the PP goes into any kind of slump or we start getting goalie'd. And that says nothing about how we'd fare against a Colorado or Edmonton that could easily outskill us if we get that far.

Wennberg is the better player AINEC. He was playing 2nd line minutes for Seattle and was good in the playoffs. Brodzinski is a AAAA level player. It's more than just points. He plays defense, Is able to carry the puck in the Ozone and distribute to his wingers. Both Cuylle and Kakko will benefit from the upgrade.

You forget Wennberg was playing against the other teams best center/line and Brodz was playing against the other teams 3/4 in sheltered minutes. That is the problem with the numbers/ people just use them and compare player to player based on numbers with no context at all. Thats why I hate the numbers and prefer to use the eye test and go by what I see. Wennberg is an bonifided NHL caliber player and is a #2 center on a weak team and a #3 on a very good team. Brodz is a borderline NHL center/ very good AHL player.
