When a player is winding up for a reasonably harmless shot and the defender can’t quite get there in time... is the defender coached to reach to tip the shot? It seems to me running over the shooter makes way more sense. Even if the defender is late he’ll remove the shooter from the play and isn’t it better for the goalie to face an unobstructed shot than a tipped one which may go out of play but may go somewhere the goalie can’t save it. Sorry for the long winded question.
