Yup. Audi AWD is legendary for winter traction. If you have the right tires you can get through almost anything.I love my S4!
Had a blizzard of heavy wet snow last night. When I was driving home at 1am, NONE of the roads were plowed AT ALL! My car is cruising through it like nothing... when on a 2 lane County road, there was a car stuck literally in the middle. I come to a stop directly behind them, get out and try to help them get going, but their car wouldn't budge. They gave up and called a tow truck, but even after I offered them a ride, they decided to stay, they didn't want to leave their car alone.
I bid them good luck, walked back to my car, got in and drove into even deeper snow to go around them, and my car went through it without even so much as a little slip of a tire...I can only imagine their reaction to seeing me drive away with such ease with how low to the ground my car is while plowing through snow quite a bit deeper than what had stranded them!
A set of Blizzak WS90's... it's a street legal snowmobile!Yup. Audi AWD is legendary for winter traction. If you have the right tires you can get through almost anything.
You are helping my case to buy an old used Audi R8 Quattro with the gated 6-speed.A set of Blizzak WS90's... it's a street legal snowmobile!
I don't even have the good AWD (Haldex on 3's) and while last night here was the worst commute of the season i made it through. So many abandoned vehicles and trim pieces everywhere. I ran a few red lights an very nearly lost all momentum around one corner but finally got there. My traction control light was on the entire time, which im sure is not healthy, and the entire front of my car was covered from bashing through berms. If i had a couple more inches of clearance i'd have been great but i was basically plowing the road in some places. Even with good snow tires that's a tough ask in 9" of snow.Yup. Thankfully I don't have to shovel, the association takes care of that part.Wet snow is the f***ing worst, and where I live, while the volume of snow is (highly variable but usually) low its usually wet because we're almost always near the rain-snow line.
Backbreaking to shovel that crap.
I'm getting off topic now but winter is a pain when you live in a 4-season area but don't have a garage lolThankfully I don't have to shovel, the association takes care of that part.
I love winter and snow, but I also love summer and thunderstormsI'm getting off topic now but winter is a pain when you live in a 4-season area but don't have a garage lol
EDIT: I should say snow is a pain; I like winter otherwise.
The only thing about summer I like is that it's sports car season.I love winter and snow, but I also love summer and thunderstorms
Minnesota summers are pretty damn worth it.The only thing about summer I like is that it's sports car season.
Other than that, f*** summer.
Thanks for the shout out on the mains btwMinnesota summers are pretty damn worth it.

Cripple creek , I did buy piglet in Leadville (WR450) think it's 1.5 hours away , it's a cute little town.10K feet? Leadville by any chance?
At that altitude your weather is probably unpredictable for much of the year.Cripple creek , I did buy piglet in Leadville (WR450) think it's 1.5 hours away , it's a cute little town.
Storms come usually from the north here , there is a fire close by ,maybe 20 miles , we have had wicked winds for 5 days , one night I was drinking at a casino and its was COLD , And windy ,only had to walk a couple blocks home and I didn't think I was going to make it I was so cold , my eyes started freezing it was soo freaking cold.sometimes you can reach up and touch clouds and lightning is like nothing you have ever experienced. It also never gets 90* F here and is dry as hell. Most productive gold mine in N America is here.At that altitude your weather is probably unpredictable for much of the year.
Going to swap mine out this weekendmy goddddddd. MIN is finally getting spring weather next week and my summer shoes come on. WOOOOOOOOOOOO.
the first couple of drives with summers are so liberating. though with the absolute wrecked state of the streets I'm going to have to be extra careful.Going to swap mine out this weekend
Always forget just how noisy the winter tires are... but once the summers are on, it's a huge reminder!the first couple of drives with summers are so liberating. though with the absolute wrecked state of the streets I'm going to have to be extra careful.
