Proposal: Rakell to the Kings

The Kings could really use some more offense - in particular, a right shot scoring winger seems to be exactly what's missing from their forward group.

Would love to see them put together a package to acquire Rickard Rakell from the Pens.

To Pittsburg: F Trevor Moore, F prospect Francesco Pinelli (previous 2nd round pick from the 2021 draft), and the Kings' 2026 1st round pick
To LA: F Rickard Rakell

I'd still do this without including Pinelli, that said he looks like a pretty underwhelming prospect himself.

Rakell for Moore and a 1st is about the kind of value I'd expect back for Rakell.

I don't know if I do it if I'm Pittsburgh. Getting a late first in a weak draft while taking back a forward signed at $4.2mil for 3 additional years is tough. I'm struggling to determine if it's "worth it".

If Moore was able to recreate the 30g performance, I'd say yes but I'm skeptical. As much as we need center prospects, I'd almost rather get a defensive prospect back and then draft centers in the next drafts. Is Dvorak doable?

Moore probably won't post another 30G season in his career but he's still a very effective player.

Great on the PK. Good speed. Good defensively. He's not having a great year this year (has been very snake-bitten) but he's probably good for 15+G and 40+ points every year while being a strong 200ft forward.

He's solid value for $4.2m - it's not like the Pens would be taking on a bad contract in this scenario, just taking back a roster player that may need a change of scenery.

Ultimately, it's a down grade for the Pens (of course), that's why the 1st and the prospect are included.

No it isn't. Rakell has more goals than Moore has points this year.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a 1st, but it definitely has to be a 1st rounder in value.

Moore is the type of player i could see meshing with SId, then we can flip him.

I feel like Pens should be able to do better over the summer. I’d rather a 26 first anyways if it’s going to be a later one.

It's what it'd take.

I think Rakell ends this season with the Penguins, but that's mostly because it becomes far easier to trade him in the summer than it is in-season with a flat cap. 30 goal-scorers that cost $5 million have value in this league, especially when that contract ends before he's likely to see a real regression.

We're at the point where Dubas needs to be targeting higher-end assets than just packages. There's depth in the system now and a bunch of 2nd & 3rd rounders in the next few drafts. A playoff team's 1st round pick, or a 1st round-adjacent prospect, feels like the starting point for negotiations.

Three more seasons at what should be a nice cap hit ($5 mill through 27/28 season). I don't think it's unrealistic to expect a 1st (plus something else) in return for him.

He’s going to be an outright bargain after July 1 when people start seeing what $5 mill will get you in the new cap world.

Yeah he's a good complimentary winger. Does a lot of the little things well and a good skater.

Again, it's not like Moore is a cap dump - he's a solid player even while having a down year.

I like Moore, but he's 29 years old. Not exactly a prospect.
I wonder if there's a way to get Moore without giving up Rakell.
