My extra long weekend has commenced! I cannot wait to sleep in and then go sit by the pool. We are finally storm free after tonight. Bring on the SPF 50 and vitamin D.
Going to be 95 in Vermont Monday, 100 in MA. Craziness.
I despise summer. This is why.Going to be 95 in Vermont Monday, 100 in MA. Craziness.
I don't mind the heat but it needs to get into the 60s at night so I can cool the house down with the fans and windows open. I hate AC with a passion. I have a whole system of opening/closing windows and shades that works until its a muggy 70 degrees at night.I despise summer. This is why.
Well, this and bugs.
Same. It's cold, I can throw on another sweater, hoodie, blanket, whatever.I would rather Winter than hot humid weather
yeah. id rather sleep in a tent outside if I had no ACI don't mind the heat but it needs to get into the 60s at night so I can cool the house down with the fans and windows open. Spending 7 months heating the house, then to only close the windows in the summer drives me nuts. Living near the ocean was more gray but it did not get as hot (or cold) as Vermont. On my weather station the coldest of 2025 so far was -23 and the warmest is 91. The feels like min was -30 and highest was 97
hot and humid sucks the life out of you and usually comes with poor air qualitySame. It's cold, I can throw on another sweater, hoodie, blanket, whatever.
There are only so many ways to cool down.
And sweat is just gross. Take a shower, walk outside, you need to take another shower after two minutes.
Luckily our house is a ranch, if I was in the 2nd floor, never going to cool that down.yeah. id rather sleep in a tent outside if I had no AC
I cheated and went in the Nantucket sound this weekend, was mid 60s.Just had my first full dip in the ocean for the summer. Air temp 88, ocean temp 58.
Summer in Massachusetts.
Same. Especially windows at opposite ends of a ranch. me and my daughter went to hampton a couple weeks ago. I think water temp was 54 and we were in that for well over a couple hours. Suprisingly it wasnt that bad.Just had my first full dip in the ocean for the summer. Air temp 88, ocean temp 58.

Agreed!Same. Especially windows at opposite ends of a ranch. Holy hell it's like a wind tunnel sometimes.
Do I want to turn on my AC? No. That shit gets expensive real quick. But I can't sleep when it's 75 and wet, with zero air movement.
Right now it is 76 upstairs with 78% humidity. Miserable. Hopefully once the sun goes down the fans do the lord's work, but I think it's just going to get worse today. The basement, where my office is, 68 degrees and the dehu set to 60%, cycling on/off and maintaining no problem. So nice down here I just might work late!
I can’t tell you how many second kitchens we saw when looking for a home lol. I still don’t understand it, but my better half’s mother always ooooh’d and ahhhh’d whenever we saw a good oneAgreed!
My house is all casement windows which I really like because you can lock those things down to stop air from getting out plus we have big overhangs so you can keep them open when its raining. But... no window AC options. We use the mini split sparingly because its in the living room which is great for heat and sleeping but not that good for cooling and sleeping since the bedrooms are at the other end. I usually have good luck turning it on from like 5pm to 8pm then wait until it gets below 75ish outside and trying with the windows.
I think a finished basement is in our future with the kids getting bigger and wanting their own space, plus being 50% Portuguese I feel like I am betraying my people not having a full apartment in the basement. Probably not going for the 2nd kitchen though...
Maybe she was looking forward to living in your basement later in life like a good Avó should hahahI can’t tell you how many second kitchens we saw when looking for a home lol. I still don’t understand it, but my better half’s mother always ooooh’d and ahhhh’d whenever we saw a good one
She visits us multiple times a week, always with trays full of pastries and dinners. The other day it was a giant bowl full of cavacas, and a skillet of rice and scallops.Maybe she was looking forward to living in your basement later in life like a good Avó should hahah
How many bathtub Mary's did you see?

SecondedI love this weather.
If I were all-powerful, it would be this warm 363 days out of the year, and we would have light snow on Dec. 24 and 25. Not only that, it would only rain at night during the work week.
