OT - NO POLITICS Rainy Weekends Always Get Me Down edition

I think our town must set a record for the most chain chicken restaurants in less than a 2 mile radius.

Zaxby's
Popeye's
Slim Chickens
Raising Cane's (literally next door to Slim)
Bojangles

Oh and they're building Chick Fil A in the middle of all this too.

Plus there are a handful of local chicken restaurants.

How many chicken tender joints does one town need?? lol it's ridiculous

I just tried Cane's last night, only because I was given a gift card for it. It was tasty but their menu is extremely limited compared to the other chains
We got a Sneaky Bird here. It's baked fast food chicken. It's supposed to be non-oil, never fried. It decent and they offer sweet potato alternatives to fries, etc.
Canes is the big chicken place here, people go crazy for it.

Also ridiculous - we kill and eat something like 20million chickens a day and also ban cockfighting in all 50 states and treat it as a felony in most.

So, some of you know that my company was acquired at the start of the year, and my role was eliminated. I stayed on through May to help with the transition, but wrapped up today. I've never been unemployed before.

I plan on taking a few weeks to relax and recover and figure out what's next (from a beach chair) before diving back into the job search. I established an LLC to set myself up to do some consulting while I look for a FT gig and, hopefully, grow that into something substantial enough that I can leave the corporate world at some point.

It's a weird feeling. My career has been a big part of who I am, and to not have that is causing some...feelings. Trying to be thankful for this mid-career/mid-life reset. Definitely going to take advantage of the opportunity for some down time, since it will probably never happen again
Best of luck!

Be careful with the consulting through the LLC if you fall into anything with more of a FT bend to it if the goal is to work as a 1099. Common thought is the IRS will automatically view you as an independent contractor if you're behind an LLC, but the reality is they can completely disregard it if you're operating as more of a W-2 employee.

Ping me if you ever want to discuss. Hope everything works out well for you!

Just saw that :(

I didn't like the early seasons as much, when her character and Burns were more cartoonish

The later seasons were my favorite. She was really good then

I agree, her character was a lot more interesting in the later seasons & she did a great job portraying that.

I haven't watched MASH in about 15 years now, but I did go through a phase when I was younger where I was into it and watched every day on TV in sindication.

When I was younger I preferred the later episodes with Winchester, Col. Potter, and BJ. But now that I'm an adult I find that Frank Burns was the best character on the entire show.

I always got a kick out of the episode where they were lost in the middle of nowhere on a broken down bus, and Frank used a walkie talkie that no one would have heard him on, to broadcast that they were "directly under the brightest star"

That was the one where Frank brought a derringer along in violation of a truce, but Mako laughed at the gun because it was so small. I think that was Frank's best episode.

I was fascinated by Winchester. He could do both comedy and drama well.

The funniest episode of his, IMO, was when he was recruited to "help" Flagg prove Margaret was a communist and instead he drew up a whole plan to make Flagg look bad.

For drama, the episodes when he helped the stutterer, and when he amputated a guy's arm only to find out he was a concert pianist, were two of the best. And of course the finale with the musicians that were killed.

Thank you! One of our good friends is a CPA who owns a small firm and is holding my hand every step of the way.

I’ll absolutely reach out with any questions, I appreciate that!

It may have been another episode where they were lost but there was this ditty:
Frank says "there's a plane going by I will report when it's overhead NOW !"
Hawkeye replys "Frank he's 25 thousand feet up, and by now the plane is back in the hangar and he's in his bunk." (loosely paraphrased).

Before that he played a police detective IIRC on the P.I. Series "Mannix."

Someone says they are good at finding things.

Hawkeye: “Could you find my virginity? I lost it 20 years ago and haven’t found it since.”

Twins had a soccer game down in Sandwich today. Their team is basically the soccer equivalent of The Mighty Ducks while they were still just District 5. Hilariously under dogged in every game so far. They won today 4-0! Not sure what happened but they were all flying. Team defense was incredible. Making really nice and perfectly timed passes.

To top it all off, one of the twins had an assist and the other scored his first goal on a perfect pass from the corner for a slick little one-timer put away.

The kids all went with mom off to celebrate their cousins birthday, and the lady and I stopped for clam cakes and fried haddock on the water before heading home.

Took a nap when we got back, and now we will unload a car full of tools into the shed, and maybe attempt some rust removal on a used Peloton we bought a couple weeks ago

Lacrosse final four tomorrow! It’s a great weekend
