OT - NO POLITICS Rainy Weekends Always Get Me Down edition

Did you do the inner or outer route?
We did the inside passage.

I had been on the same ship in the Carribean. I told the folks I was traveling with that you wouldn't even know you were on a boat  . The water went out of all of the pools and hot tubs. The ship's stabilizers came out.

We were told it happens once in a while as you are coming out of Alaska. It was interesting and exciting!

So last night the AC conked out. Called the landlord, he said they would have it replaced because it was overdue. He was going to call the HVAC company first thing this morning and give me an update.

Noon arrives, no word. I texted him and asked for an update and he said "fixed and up and running by 10:30."

Well..... OK, I'm glad it's working, but what about the "it needs to be replaced" thing. It looks from the outside like it was probably on its last leg ten years ago lol

Excellen
Yes then take 95 unless you want to do sight seeing along rt 1.

A good option would be to take 95 to Portland, then 295 to Freeport (LL Bean flagship) then jump on RT1. You will get alot of Maine views in Bath, Wiscassett, Damariscotta, Rockport, Camden, Belfast, etc.
Excellent and thank you. Just the type of information that I was looking for.

I had mine replaced last year. It looked similar to that one but maybe not quite as old. I would have kept it if i could as the parts are easy to replace and it lasted 20 years. Now apparently you are lucky to get 12 years out of them. With mine, the coils started leaking in a place that was inaccessible for repairs.

A bit west of you but this is best bowling alley hands down!

place looks nice. But it is a bit of a hike for me. They closed most of the candlepin lanes around here shortly after all the shutdowns. They just lost too much money.

The one in Worcester is nice, but its pricey. We got the pizza and beers and its cool how they have all that downstairs at the lanes. But the bowling is $35 per hour. I think we started at 930 and played until closing which was 11pm

I DO NOT miss humidity at all. We are barely at 11 % here most of the time. We sometimes get humidity before monsoon, but it's gone quickly because of the intensity of the storms. skies are incredible afterwards.

It's humid here in the Quiet Corner today and yes I've always hated it. It also makes my bad hip hurt more so I'm even crankier than usual.

went candlepin bowling last night at the new American Flatbread in Worcester.
bowled a 97, 114 and 100. not bad for not playing since before covid.
The pizza was so good too.
Kinda sad 20 years ago it was once the spot of Lucky Dog music hall and before that Sir Morgans Cove.
What is considered a "good" score for candlepin?

Ah yes, planned obsolescence is a wonderful thing. Not.

I don't know how old this one is, but when I look at it the first word that comes to mind is dinosaur lol

Totally understand the crankiness. It's 92 today with a dew point of 27. As long as you're not out roofing or something, it's beautiful. (it's still ok weather to get groceries in AZ)

I love you. If we were neighbours, we would get along perfectly. Drinking tea, talking Bruins, talking Universe, etc etc etc. We would be good for each other. I am so glad we know each other through the board.

I so agree. We will meet someday!

You and a few others here (some that I have never met in person...like you) have held me together of late! I am thankful for our little group!

Always nice to see new candlepin lanes opening! Far more of them have closed.

Just flew home on Southwest from a conference and I kind of hate their seating policy. The first leg was pretty empty so I had a row to myself, but the way back was more full.

First issue, I had business select with priority boarding, but there were a bunch of people with wheelchairs who get to preboard and bring their whole families with them so the first 7 rows are taken up by the time that Group A even goes on the plane.

I was able to get a front row window seat, so extra legroom, which wasn't bad. But it got awkward because the guy in the aisle seat put all his stuff in the middle seat to block it and told people walking by that he was saving it for someone. So when everyone boarded and no one was there, some guy got mad and wanted to sit there in the front middle, making a little bit of a scene. It was annoying for me since there were plenty of aisle and window seats toward the back but this guy plopped down there and it cut into my space a little. But it was only an hour flight and the leg room in front and window let me kind of lean out of the way.

I heard they're going to switch to assigned seating next year, which, after this experience, I'm on board for. The open seating is such a clown show.

A while back I had heard they were going to change open seating because people were taking advantage of the wheelchair boarding (oh look, time to get off the plane, I don't need that silly wheelchair anymore)

The "it's all about me" crowd always ruins things for everybody

Watching the Great Canadian Baking Show and they had to make Lamingtons. I had never heard of them before but I bet @Aussie Bruin could tell me all about them.

I can, but actually I don't like them. Essentially squares of sponge cake coated in chocolate and coconut flakes. Invented in Queensland I believe.

A very common Aussie cake but the coconut is the no-go zone for me. I also don't like Vegemite or any of our mass-produced beers, so I'm not a very good patriot on the food front!
