I don’t mind the hire at all, loved Pete in Seattle and he is a stable head coach.

One thing he brings to the Raiders is stability.
@snipes your boy is back

Also, with a Pete Carroll system we are finally get some use out of the run game plus heavy receiver set.

I actually don’t think this is a bad move for the Raiders. Carroll is old but he brings a lot of energy. I think the year off helps. He’s not a ten year guy obviously but he’s the adult in the room who can help stabilize this as a more serious franchise.

The AFC West coaching line-up is pretty historic. Reid, Payton, Carroll all Super Bowl winners and Harbaugh has been to the Super Bowl.

.... "an inspiration" ....? Come on, Schefter.... it's just a wealthy boomer refuses to retire story #932,044.

Anyway, eh. I think he's well-past his prime, but I doubt he'll be bad.

Wow. A true shocker for me. Couldn't believe it when I first saw it and had to double check to see if it was in fact the legit ESPN account tweeting it out and not a fake.

Now speculation about a reunion with Russ as the stop gap QB? What the hell is going on in Vegas?

All that said, Pete is someone who can probably steady things a bit after the disastrous McDaniels and Pierce stints.

If you are a coveted HC prospect why join LV now? Reid, Payton, Harbaugh along with their QBs are in the division. LV has no QB.

With Johnson off the board, Raiders need stability. Get that with Pete. Question is who he hires as OC and DC. Last couple of DC not great. Hurtt and Norton. OC Bevell, Schotty, Waldron.

Needs better. See if they keep Graham and let him run it again. But need an OC.

I had a feeling this is where it was headed. They’ve had however many jamokes in a row and someone with Carroll’s track record is rarely available, even if it won’t be long. Brady must not have been willing to deal with Belichick again.

It's not surprising for Raiders fans partly because it's been heavily rumoured all week. Plus, who else would be a better hire right now? I maybe would've preferred Glenn or Johnson but not by much and they didn't want the job. As far as Wilson goes, he's still way better than Minshew or O'Connell and I'd rather bring him on than overpay Darnold. A trade for Joe Milton is my preferred option but doubt that happens.

Pete is a take care of the ball type of HC. So, he's not looking to add a gunslinger. See what the options are for him and LV.

Could they be desperate enough to put money on the table for Darnold?
I think they'd do that if he came in at around the Baker Mayfield contract at $100 mill over 3 years with $65 mill guaranteed or like Carr ($160 mill over 4, but only $70 mill guaranteed something) (basically 2 year deals).

I think any team would be crazy to give him $45 mill per on average and lock in him as a 3 year starter.
