FWIW from the KHL forum:
couple things
1 let's wait for a more credible source there isn't even a name attached to this rumor
2. if that is the conversion rate then WOW does the Ruble have ZERO value
Most in Rubles probably. They can't access (legally) their USD reserves + I doubt they dip into their laundries to pay a hockey player.1.4M makes him the highest paid player? That doesn’t sound right…

I'm a bit confused, how much did you think it would be in RUB? You might be confusing it with some other currency?Yea, i knew it tanked but Lord that is embarrassing.
KHL salary cap is 900M RUB, Radulov is getting like 10% of it. Before that Shipachyov was getting 95M RUB and was the highest-paid player, but he agreed to reduce it to 75M RUB this offseason.1.4M makes him the highest paid player? That doesn’t sound right…

KHL's salary cap was implemented in 2020, but you're probably right about the rest. Still if we consider taxes, no escrow and lower costs of living, it is not so low, I usually multiply it by two to get the approximate NHL equivalent money, so here it would be 2.8M USD, I'd say Radulov wouldn't be getting that kind of money in the NHL this offseason.I think most think back to the freewheeling era of the KHL, when Kovalchuk was making $5.5M a year.
But since the hard cap was implemented in 2018, the high end is gone. The top salary in 2020-21 was the equivalent of $1.5M.

As for the credibility it is almost official, even Ak Bars twitter account is tweeting hints to it.

As long as I'm getting your attention. Any more rumblings of Jaskin returning to the K lately?
Woah. How did that reverse so sharply? The Rubble is actually the highest it's been since about 2018:

The price of oil went through the roof. The Russian economy is totally oil based. As of now, Russia is still selling almost all of their oil. The volume is down slightly, but the price is way up. Europe is actually spending more on Russian oil now than before the sanctions started, and a higher proportion of that spending is profit for Russia.Woah. How did that reverse so sharply?
