Mystic Dan won by just looking up. Goes to show yeah you should look up every once in a while and enjoy life. You never know what will happen.

Half mile 46.6 was a fair pace. Hernandez gets the jump and the ground saving, winning move early and squeezes by the 12 on the lead.

Yeesh, Larry Collmus missed the inside move. Tough race to call though.

discussions ongoing as to whether Mystik Dan will run @ Pimlico; also Thorpedo Anna's future after the Oaks win....
Sounds like he’s gonna go if he’s healthy. Thorpedo Anna won’t run against him considering the same connections.

Laurel (Maryland):
  • End of the Meet
  • Leading Jockey: JG Torrealba, a bug, with 22 wins. Torrealba, perhaps a finalist for an Eclipse Award (Apprentice), rode in the US for the first time last year.
  • Leading Trainer: Kieron Magee with 11 wins. Magee won the 2023 Spring title at Laurel as well.
  • Next Up Pimlico: From 5/9/2024-5/27/2024.
  • Laurel Returns: 5/31/2024-8/18/2024.
Mountaineer (West Virginia):
  • Race 8: The $.50 Pick 5 returned over $107,000.
Gulfstream (Florida):
  • Race 9: The $.20 Pick 6 paid $115,000+.
Oaklawn (Arkansas):
  • End of the Meet
  • Leading Jockey: Cristian Torres with 82 wins.
  • Leading trainer: Steve Asmussen with 71 wins.
  • Perfection: Skelly and Valentine's Candy both were 4-for-4. Two other horses won four times as well.
Santa Anita (California):
  • Race 1: The Rabbi (Armando Ayuso/Ron Ellis) debuted to a win at 41-to-1. He needed some divine intervention at breaking last -- perhaps due to the old adage of maiden outings in the inside hole -- but delivered when it counted. The Rabbi, sold for $325,000 last year, paid $84.80.
