Draft R7 #208: Rangers select D Hank Kempf

This a throwaway pick, basically a thank you to Cornell for Barron here's another NYR to entrust you with. Dont expect anything out of this pick. Wish we went for upside with someone like Canonica but whatever, 7th round doesnt matter.
 
I wouldn't call it a throwaway. Big kid who may be 6'4'' and 210+ when all is said and done. Let him chill at Cornell for all four years and see how he develops.
 
Kempf is meh, but I felt they could've taken him after the draft (if there was a prospect development camp). Definitely a stay-at-home-defenseman and little to no offensive prowess. Not sure why they take him over a guy like Ryan St. Louis who went undrafted.

Good luck to him in Cornell, though!
