It’s not even entirely about the PP (though that is his most valuable contribution to the team, so to have it come up empty over and over again should be a consideration). I was more concerned over his defensive play, especially the breakaway he caused shortly after we tied it. That would have been an absolute dagger goal to give up, and it came because he was getting worked over physically and threw the puck away towards our zone.

Sitting someone after a 2-1 win and 5 of the last 6, where they only gave up 14 shots because of a miscue or two is a lot reactionary.

The team looked really good, despite what the talking heads had to say. The passing was just a touch off. The shots were just a touch off. The bounces weren't there. Thompson was very good. And still, the analytics prevailed.

But if we see the game play out like that possession wise the rest of the series, it'll be a lot more 5-1 wins than 2-1's, and it'll be over in 4 or 5.

It's amazing how many of our defensemen people think should be on the bench for a team that is winning all the games and gives up almost no chances.

The Caps were relatively mild last night. I suspect an uptick in physicality for game 2. They did very little to stop us from getting to our game and taking ton of shots (shot attempts ).
