I was watching the national broadcast and I didn’t see it? I would’ve been a mess if I saw that, mine went straight to LA during the handshake.

The SlavinPesce will always been the breakup I never got over.

Brett Pesce, clearly a lifelong friend to 80% of the guys in the handshake line and a Hurricane for life. Was an absolute f***ing warrior for a team that was comically decimated, what a guy.

I was already thinking before we didn't extend him that one day Pesce should be inducted into the Hurricanes hall of fame.

What a dagger in the heart seeing him hug his former teammates and coaches. We drafted him and he played for us for many years, and he was one of the key players to turning our franchise around. I wish we could win a cup with him still on the team.

Yeah, those were especially moments that Pesce was almost still on the team with that level of love and respect between Slavin and Pesce, and Rod and Pesce. Aho and Pesce really hugged and talked to each other as well.

I hotswitched to the FanDuel broadcast as soon as Aho scored because I knew they had to get to the Kings/Oilers on the national feed.

Pesce hugged basically everyone. The hug with Slavin was like hugging a brother, and then the one with RBA was like he was hugging his dad. It’s just something that shouldn’t be so. He should be here.

So this is going to be bittersweet, but I’m pretty sure that OT goal shouldn’t have counted. About 40 seconds before the goal, Seigenthalar tries to clear the puck, it’s gloved down by Svech (I believe) and goes to Blake. It’s a missed hand pass that the Devils absolutely could have challenged. Apparently the Devils coaching staff called the Devils production crew and asked them to find that play to verify.

Obviously, way too late now, but what could have been.

I'd kill to trade Ghost and Walker for him even but I know thats fantasy. Bring in Morrow, Nikishn and maybe Fensore or find another D to fill the holes. His contract is chrap and IDGAF about how it ages, but no way NJ lets him go

I don’t think they got a clear look until the handshakes were happening. And at that point, it’d be a tough call for them to restart that game.

From the broadcast angle it didn’t look like Svech gloved it, just that it bounced off him.

It’s the downstream impact of the Guentzel flub. In a perfect world when we miss out on Guentzel we then immediately pivot and sign Pesce instead of Walker. Instead Pesce was already gone by the time we realized we missed on Guentzel. It changes the whole look of this team to have Ghost-Pesce instead of Ghost-Walker. Then next year Pesce’s the guy to break in Nikishin and Ghost plays with Chatfield.
