So who would’ve thought before the season we’d be the first team to advance to the 2nd round this year? I thought we’d make the playoffs easily and possibly win a round depending on matchup but didn’t expect such a short series in round 1 like past years. Of course the Devils were extremely banged up and an easier matchup but still this season has already surpassed pretty much all expectations, no?

Re-tooling year after letting like a half dozen key free agents walk, Rantanen fiasco, and still winning a playoff series is pretty damn impressive. Seriously credit to this team, Rod, front office, etc. Anything else this year is gravy and set up just insanely well for the foreseeable future.

All that said if we don’t see Nikishin next game, we riot.

4th team in the History of the NHL to win at least 1 series for 7 consecutive years (that's what I heard on the broadcast). This is quite impressive, and the window is still wide open
Yeah it’s an incredible feat. One could argue a bit of an asterisk with Covid year only counting for the streak due to play-in round being considered playoffs officially, but regardless it’s seriously impressive. The record is 10 and I could really see us threatening that. The other black mark so far is the other 3 teams who have done it all won at least 2 cups during their streaks so we gotta reach those heights too sooner or later or we’ll just be viewed as a better version of the recent SJ Sharks

I haven't read beyond the first 4 pages of the topic, but I wanted to say before I go to bed, that I appreciated Pesce hugging his former teammates in the hand shake line. That was honestly the most sad I've ever felt about us not extending him, and I already hated we didn't extend him from the moment the news broke last summer.

Anyway, now our team gets some needed extra days of rest. Heal and rest.
