Just got home from youth group. Very happy to see the result, I hope Kotchekov found his groove in relief of Freddie who I do hope is okay.

I'm really happy for Svechnikov. We've been wanting him to be a beast in the playoffs and so far he's been our best skater it seems. Playoff hat tricks aren't common for this team and he's got I think the only two in Hurricanes history (don't know about Whalers, need @sabremike to clarify)

Good road playoff win. Please close this out on Tuesday night.
The Whalers never had an NHL playoff hat trick.

Canes really put on a masterclass in running out the clock.

Up 1, NJ playoff lives pretty much on the line, backup goalie in, 7 shots against in the 3rd and 0 penalties. Nothing particularly dangerous on net.

That’s a sign of a team that has learned how to win.

The other sign is a team that gets goals to put it away.

Today they got both.

For whatever it's worth, Tripp and Adam Gold independently mentioned that they thought Burns had a very good game today.

Whatever you think about Burns and his ups and downs, there's no one in the league that deserves a Stanley Cup more than him. I want a Ray Bourque moment this year.

They should dress nikishin with the sole objective to annihilate Meier

ON THE LORD'S DAY, BABY!

You know Timo was on some bullshit when the announcers are agreeing with us and they have been riding NJs dick the whole series.
Yeah, things are pretty bad when even they point it out.
Lol, we’re gonna have a different gametime for every game this series and none were 7PM:

Game 1 was 3PM
Game 2 was 6PM
Game 3 was 8PM
Game 4 was 3:30PM
Game 5 is 7:30PM
In other words, it's a clown show.

I can't remember if Mike or Tripp mentioned it, but going into tonight, Svech was tied for fifth all time in Canes/Whalers players for playoff points with Brindy at 38. With the hat trick tonight, he leapfrogged Ron Francis and Teuvo Teravainen (both at 39), and ends up third all time, only 2 points back of Eric Staal. Obviously Aho is first, he's got 75.

Also of note is Jaccob Slavin with a staggering +36 in 75 playoff games while skating north of 25 minutes a night. He's also only got 10 PIMs in those games, good for 0.13 penalties/60, which is so low I have a hard time putting it into context. Just to pick another random defenseman out of a hat, Gostisbehere has 0.69 penalties/60.

These is the times, boys and girls.

That ends up being 1 PIM every 7.5 games, or 1 penalty (2 min) every 15GP...and I remember some of those were baffling calls. Like you know you f***ed up when you call a penalty on Slavin

Was one of his playoff penalties the incorrectly called dogpog in gm 7 ot vs the caps?

I have a vague memory of him getting a dogpog so my brain assumes it was the one that was incorrect.
