Confirmed with Link: R.I.P. Denis Brodeur

What a sad day, my condolences to the whole Brodeur family. What a great photographer, and most importantly, father. RIP.

Was Denis a radio commentator for the Canadiens? I swear I remember seeing some segment about Marty back in the mid 90s, and they touched on Denis a little bit too. And I swear they said he was currently the color commentator for the Canadiens, and even the Expos too I think.

This is going back to 95 or 96 so maybe I'm remembering wrong. It might have just said he was the photographer for the Canadiens/Expos, but I'm remembering something about commentary on the radio too.

No, he never was a commentator. But he was the photographer for the Habs and he did some work for the Expos also. Great work, as usual.

My sympathies to his family.

Alright I guess they were just talking about how he was the photographer. Thanks for clearing that up!

RIP and condolences.

I hope Marty made it up there in time.

Every single time we played in Montreal they showed Denis in the stands with his camera, beaming with pride.

My condolences to the entire Brodeur family. RIP Denis, you will be sorely missed. He was an incredible photographer and a great man. What an incredibly sad day :(

The habs just had a moment of silence in memory of Denis Brodeur (before the game against Ottawa).

I think they should also do something when the Devils visit us, but in the same time it might affect Martin so I'm not sure if it would be a nice gesture then...

I hope someone uploads that. What a nice gesture.

“Denis Brodeur's images brought the action, the drama and the passion of the game sharply into focus for generations of fans.”

"Some of the greatest teams and players in hockey history, incl. his son Martin, are preserved forever by his grand body of work. Memorialized, as well, is Denis' deep love of what he did and the sport he covered."

– Bettman

Damn, I had a feeling something was up when Brodeur was pulled from the game, didn't get to check any other news until now. I'm glad Martin got a chance to get up there. My thoughts are with him and the whole family.

Couldn't be a more proud father of a son. I know this has been on Marty's mind. You could tell when he first got sick. Hope the family can now start to heal.

Just saw this..... Are you kidding me?

That's not how this is supposed to happen. He was supposed to be there when they finally retire Marty's number. :( :( :(

Damn it.....this sucks.

My Deepest, deepest condolences to Marty, Anthony, and their entire family for this absolutely devastating loss of a very special man.

Damn it. RIP Denis. :( One of the greatest hockey photographers of all time. Condolences to the Brodeur family.

wow, what a photo. a Legend at his craft as is his son. of course everyone identifies him with the above pic and being Marty's dad. but aside from hockey, he was a photog for the Montreal Expos , Montreal Alouettes and the CFL and also Formula 1 auto racing and professional tennis to name a few more.
