What a sad day, my condolences to the whole Brodeur family. What a great photographer, and most importantly, father. RIP.
Was Denis a radio commentator for the Canadiens? I swear I remember seeing some segment about Marty back in the mid 90s, and they touched on Denis a little bit too. And I swear they said he was currently the color commentator for the Canadiens, and even the Expos too I think.
This is going back to 95 or 96 so maybe I'm remembering wrong. It might have just said he was the photographer for the Canadiens/Expos, but I'm remembering something about commentary on the radio too.
No, he never was a commentator. But he was the photographer for the Habs and he did some work for the Expos also. Great work, as usual.
My sympathies to his family.
They held a minute of silence before the game tonight in MTL.
A year ago, on the 40th anniversary of the heart-stopping moment, Brodeur told me it was the greatest photo he ever took.
“I could never beat this,” he said. “I’ve taken photos of Martin with the Stanley Cup and his (2002 and 2010) Olympic gold medals. But I’ll never do better than my picture of Henderson.”
Damn it. RIP Denis. One of the greatest hockey photographers of all time. Condolences to the Brodeur family.
