Assuming Buffalo doesn’t get 1OA in the lottery and the pick is 2-4 range.

To Vancouver
Buffalo 1st rounder 2025
Owen Power or Bowen Byrum
Jack Quinn

To Buffalo
Quinn Hughes

If Vancouver is getting skittish about Hughes not re-signing this is the time to cash in.

Well there, that’s not particularly close to the return that would be acceptable at this point, unless you spelled Dahlin wrong.

From a pure value standpoint this is simply too much.

Hughes isn’t what Buffalo need either.

I doubt Hughes would have any interest in signing long term in Buffalo
? Hard to contemplate this position, please share what the value was the last time the current Norris winner was traded in his prime… with remaining term …. That represents a step discount on the cap.

Why would Buffalo need Hughes when they already have Dahlin. They’re better off only logical Van - Buffalo deal for Hughes would be a one for one for Dahlin. It’s fair value but then the Sabres are renting Hughes for two seasons.

“Pittsburgh sent a 2024 first-round pick, forward Mikael Granlund and defenseman Jan Rutta to San Jose and goaltender Casey DeSmith, defenseman Jeff Petry, a 2025 second-round pick and prospect Nathan Legare to Montreal as part of the deal for the three-time Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson”

This was ~ a year and a half ago.

You missed “in his prime”

Seriously ? Quinn Hughes is a superstar.
Yes, Quinn Hughes is fabulous. But the thread is about a trade of him to Buffalo. There is only one player coming back that would actually make any sense from a Vancouver perspective: Dahlin.
Yes Hughes would instantly make the Sabres better, and they’d for certain make the playoffs. But it would be a two season rental. What are the chances Hughes would stay?

You guys just acquired one of his best friends. I think he would stay if the team made progress.

1. The criminal underrating of Dahlin going on in here is embarrassing
2. Why the f*** would Vancouver trade Hughes?
3. And even if he could pried out, why would Buffalo be the team doing it? We already have an elite #1D and aren’t hurting for offensively gifted blue liners. There are about 25 other teams that would want Hughes more than us.

If the Sabres felt confident they could extend Hughes, would they need to add to Dahlin or is this like the Weber for Suban one for one?

Lol. You win for what I'm hoping is meant to be a joke?

If not than I can see why you think that you can somehow get Quinn who would undoubtedly go 1st overall in a redraft without giving up the sabres best player or the fact that you think Quinn isn't worth a top pick in this year's draft. He is and more.

Moot point anyway because just like 90+% of superstars, especially captains, he will sign for a massive 8 year deal.
