Quinn Hughes: Deploy the Yzerplan Before it is Too Late

Worst kept secret is he's going to play with his brothers. Also Michigan isn't exactly home, as he didn't grow up in the state, only lived here while playing on the USNTDP and at Michigan. With that being said, I'm sure plenty here will blame Yzerman when it's announced Quinn has been traded to the Devils.
He lives and trains in the western suburbs in the off-season. As do his brothers, along with Larkin and Werenski in a group of NHL guys. His parents to the best of my knowledge still live in Northville.

I agree he is going to the Devils.

if Vancouver actively shopping him to New Jersey is actually accurate then he's probably straight up already told Vancouver privately that he plans on heading there in free agency

I have to agree with Oddbob. You're suggesting 3 quality NHL players who have untapped potential. Edvinsson and Ray both go top 3 in their respective redrafts. Plus adding Marco, who as a rookie potted almost 20 playing center.

Closer comp would be Marco(Krebs)+Debrincat(Tuch)+1st

You overvalue Krebs a ton. He’s not realgud.

That’s more like Rasmussen + DBC + 1st

This was referring to the basis of the Eichel trade. Back when Krebs still had tons of potential/before he solidified himself as a bottom 6 grinder.
I wanted us to get Eichel and was willing to deal Larkin+ at the time and now... if we would have offered Bert,Ras,Larkin and Zadina at the time they might have taken it...

Not even Gretzky returned that kind of package.

If Quinn actually gets moved to NJ it's likely Nemec + Mercer as the basis imo.

We'll see a lot lesser price, because there's only one possible destination. No one is gonna buy Hughes for only 2 seasons, and then lose him for basicly nothing.

So there's no bidding war, and only loser is Vancouver, who has to sell him cheap.

That's where the real question is. Is Vancouver actually shopping him?

Tocchet, shortly before being fired, remarked that "brothers want to play together", and seemed to imply that it might be possible for the Canucks to convince his brothers to move out west.

Personally speaking, I think Hughes signs with the Devils after the 2026-2027 season, when his contract expires. But I don't think the Canucks have the assets to get even one of the Hughes brothers from the Devils, and we don't have the assets we're willing to part with to get Hughes.

We had our chance to grab him, but Kenny picked Zadina instead.

Probably makes Pettersson available, no way they don't straight tank if they trade Hughes, right?

13st, Danielson, plus some sweetener.

Doubt they get full value given his level of play plus contract.

Krebs, Tuch and a 1st is not comparable?
Norris, DeMelo and a 1st is not comparable?

No, not even close. Ray is better than Tuch, and Krebs, then you have Kasper who is already looking better than Krebs, then you added Ed and a 1st which is 13th overall. The 1st in the Eichel trade ended up in the late 20s, and there is no Ed from Vegas's side.

Unless Pettersson shows up this fall and looks like the guy who hung 100 points up and was in selke talk the Canucks aren't getting much of anything for a guy with that cap hit.
