Ah, Alexander Hamilton's baby--oldest bank in New York (and the United States). People used to refer to it as BONY (I miss Mannyhanny too).

Back on subject: Larry's a cool guy--he can dance at my party any time he wants. :vhappy:

The Bridges were nothing like I though they would be. Not necessarily a bad thing just an extension of the old blue seats so to speak. Chase did a great job at the event tonigh. Big presence there. Gave away nice hats at the beginning.

One thing I will say about the new Garden in general. Much better than it was in the first two stages. More flow to it. Can get in and out of places w/out getting stuck in the herds. Not a huge wait to get into the bathrooms. Bars all over the place, w/out the waits that you used to have. Only two things I still miss are the old Irish bar that was at gate 60. In addition to that, I loved being able to walk around on the inside like you used too be able to do. I understand that took away a little something from the views however I think that is part of what made the Garden such an original, unique arena.

The crowd tonight was dead though. And i mean dead!!! Don't remember an opening night in the past 20 years that was this quiet. Guess there wasent much to cheer about? But...Definately a different feel to it. I guess much has changed.

I did find it a little odd that MSG now serves Lobster rolls and organic hot dogs. Really? Who's ordering Lobster rolls at a hockey game?

Lots of Celebs there tonight. Spike Lee, Mets pitcher, Bryant Gumbel, Matt Lauer. Plus more

Matteau and Nemchinov were there with Graves. Matteau is still one of the most socially awkward athletes ive ever met. But, that doesn't matter...He was a great NY ranger!

I thought the bridges were very cool. Really well designed, classy even. I would not be surprised if other arenas start to adopt that design. I'd like to get those seats for a game or 2, but not for a full season.

I agree that the flow has improved and you really get a sense now that it is "done", whereas after the first phase, expectations were very high and it was somewhat disappointing on opening night. I guess that is just the downside of not being able to complete the entire reno in one shot. I imagine if it had gone from the old Garden to what we have now over the course on one summer if would have been an amazing opening.

Yes, the Garden was very quiet last night, but I think a lot of that can be attributed to the late opening after a dreadful road trip. So, it's not the first or second game of the season, when the minds of the fans are filled with "anything is possible". We pretty much already know what kind of team we have. Also, it's seems to have different acoustics, as well as a less enthusiastic crowd. Opening night after the LAST lockout was crazy, and we hadn't made the playoffs in 7 years!

After the last lockout tickets were fairly inexpensive (at least compared to now), so the average fan could still afford them. These days they're outrageous and the crowd is going to reflect that.

and if you remember that was the big thing with the first lock out (2004) that the teams will be able to keep tickets prices low for the fans

Here's a tally of a night at the garden.

2 tickets. $134 x 2 $268.
Midtown Tunnel in and out $15.
Parking garage. $36.
2 Guiness Stout @ Cafe 31 $18.
2 Heinekens at the game $20.
1 Bottled Water. $5.
1 Popcorn $5.
2 Street gyros. $10.
----------------------------------------
$377.

X 41 games $15,456
X 20 games $7540

So the bridges are not really bridges, just an extension of the upper deck?
Can any fan access and walk around the bridges?

That's nuts. I have no desire to go to a game. The fact that season tickets are equal to a down payment of a fishing boat pretty much cements it for me.

The last time I saw renderings of the new Edmonton arena, they had two bridges.
