Question about Lupul trade

Gardiner for Beauch is a steal.

Add in a 4th and it's awesome.

Then add in a guy who was PPG last season and it's a bonafide "held at gunpoint" trade

lol no it's not. Beauch didn't work here, but he is a hell of a defenceman. Actually, I wish we had him now that we have Carlyle as coach.

I'd like an explanation too.

That condition was for this season, and he's going to be back within a week to 10 days. The most he will miss is 26-30 games.

Does that not mean he doesn't meet the criteria for the condition?

Unless I'm misinterpreting something - is that "40 games on the reserve list" scaled back because of the lockout? I hardly think a conditional pick built into a trade would have some sort of false safe in case of a shortened season

I looked it up and found this on NHL.com

Reserve Lists
The list of players "belonging" to an NHL team is comprised of the following, the total of which may not exceed 80:

Pro players (maximum of 50)
Signed junior players (who have played less than 11 professional games)
Unsigned draft choices
Defected players (unsigned draft choices who are playing in Europe)

So essentially even with Lupul injured, he is a part of the leafs reserve list...

Beauch was terrible while he was here. Some guys just feel comfortable playing on certain teams.

Anaheim really did Burke a favour with that trade, I don't think they knew Lupul had anything left in him, but the scouts and GM absolutely had to know what they had in Gardiner and Burke sure did as well. Burke as the Leafs GM would of really come in handy this year when Perry goes on the market, we would of had the inside scoop no question. Nonis, although Burkes freind, never worked in Anaheim and doens't have that rapport with Murray, and Burke is a scout so don't think he would be involved with the dealings anyway. Missed out IMO, it's gonna suck to see Perry land in Boston/Philly/NYR, Detroit I don't mind, they're a classy org that deserves it.

Come again?? Are you serious? BB carried Nonis around in his pocket where-ever he went. Van, Ana and now TO. But hey, what do I know?
"Nonis’ firing came on April 14, 2008. Two months later, Burke brought him aboard in Anaheim as senior adviser of hockey operations, reuniting the pair for a run that would take them to Toronto and remain intact until Burke’s firing Wednesday."

Question the Lombardi trade as well. Apparently the Leafs are owed a 4th round pick from Nashville under the condition that Lombardi plays 60 regular season games over the course of the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons. Lombardi got 60+ in 2011/12 but does that pick carry over to Phoenix now that he has been traded there or does it stay with the Maple Leafs?

In regards to the Kessel trade, Burke apologists always say that Kessel is the best player RIGHT NOW (which i personally disagree with), so as of now we're winning the trade.

So using that same line of reasoning, the word "Norris" is being thrown around regarding Beauch, while our injury prone player is of course on the IR, and Gardiner is in the minors.

I just want consistency...

I would imagine that since he played 60+ for the Maple Leafs in 2011-12 alone, that the trade is done with Nashville and we do not own Nashville's 4th but Nashville owns our 4th this year

So

Lebda
Slaney
2013 4th
Lombardi

for

1.5 Million in Salary Retention
2014 3rd/4th
Franson

????
