France just recently lost 12-1 to the Finnish "mestis" national team.. which is a national team of basically ECHL equivalent guys from Finland's second division, which should be about +/- ECHL level...

Well, France was 1 goal away from qualifying for the Turin Olypmics. They needed a tie in the last game of the qualification round vs Kazakhstan, and lost by 1.

Cristobal Huet (now with Montreal) was their tournament MVP.

If the tournament involves goal differential, no one will go easy on the Italians.

Every IIHF tournament involves goal differential.

Them going hard on us will do us good. Though I wouldnt be surprised that we compete with a team like Germany. All we need is to finish ahead of the Swiss and the Germans to advance to the Medal Round.
